I was bored and wanted to watch some games. I watched both nuggets games. I watched their feed too.

The announcers were blown away by Sextons development between games. I was too to be honest.

I thought that the first Denver game was one of the best of the season at the time. Looking back Sexton and Garland played pretty well, but Sexton had way more "wtf" moments and Garland also was better later in the season.

Sexton took it to a new level of efficiency, decisionmaking and defense believe it or not between those games.

It's more obvious in the 2nd game he is playing within the offense and picking his spots rather than forcing it. Very good in the 2nd one at capitalizing off turnovers and just getting up the floor quicker.

I'd say the Cavs really lucked out in the first game that they missed so many 3s. The 2nd game was a legit win with good execution and with several spans of good defense if not good defense the whole game.

Sexton in the first game looks like a guy with potential. In the 2nd one he looks like a guy who will hurt you if you let off him for second. Looks like an NBA player.

Also, Sexton needed the ball in his hands less to do more in the 2nd Denver game.

Also Cedi needs to tighten his handle.

I can wait to see him,Garland and Porter play next season....While,Porter have superstar potential I think Sexton can play an important role the team. For whatever reason, people continue to put Sexton in a box after he proven them wrong. Sexton can score 20 points in his sleep and he's done alot better in making better decisions.

Like,I said a few pages back,Sexton should work with Isiah Thomas on his defense...

I won't be shocked, if Sexton is somewhere working on his game.

This is from,a week ago.

I listened to it the day after it was released.

Sexton believes the Cavs can make the playoffs next season.

I think it is fairly realistic.

What I think it really hinges on is not offense which is right there with the lower seeded playoffs teams. It is going to be the defense. They need to make real improvements there. There were some good signs at the end of the season. I hope it is the main focus of training camp.

Really great read and pretty cool to see the Cavs/Sexton getting some positive publicity for a change. I just love how he ditches the traditional "bravado" of the average NBA player and basically says: "hell, every day is hard and every day I'm getting better and better. I want to be great and I have a ways to go but each game is a new experience and a chance for me and this team to get better."

Kid has his feet placed firmly on the ground and I think that mind-set is half the battle when you're trying to improve at anything in life, not just basketball.

I think part of the reason, why the defense improved is because they did alot of switching under Bickerstaff. And,Bickerstaff kept in the lineup that was doing great defensively.

You're right, defense needs to be the focus in training camp.

Sexton is starting to get comfortable with the national media.

playoffs are easily realistic for any East team. 8th seed is always a bum team that has no right being there lol

You are right that the bar isn't very high.

I will be interested to see if the Hawks actually take the leap this year or not. I do think Capella helps them. They are in the same boat as us in that they are pretty much fine offensively, but need defense to make the step. Are we one year behind them or are we ahead now because our defense got much better and they were still the worst?

I think we might see some growth from east teams next year. We will have to see.

I totally forgot about that trade. This month and a half without basketball has made me forget the whole season already.

From Fedor:

Sexton has also been filling the basketball void by watching film from the season with his dad and brother. At this point, he’s watched almost all 65 games. There are a few more left and plenty of time.

Assistant coach Lindsay Gottlieb has been sending video clips two or three times per week with discussion points -- a chance to go back and forth about what they’re seeing. In some ways, it’s a long-distance virtual session of those film breakdowns on Cleveland’s bench a little more than hour before tipoff every game.

“If they feel like I could have done something here or there then I will note it and just save it so I can watch it again and then the next time down see if I did it right,” Sexton said. “Count how many times I could have dropped it to Tristan (Thompson) or kicked it to Darius (Garland) or KP (Kevin Porter Jr.) on the 3. I think about the things she has told me. Then mark them each game just to see if I did it.”
