Jumanji: The Next Level - 8/10

If you liked the previous Jumanji movie, which to me was a very pleasant surprise, the new one is more of the same. If the idea of the Rock acting like Danny DeVito and Kevin Hart acting like Danny Glover sounds funny to you, this is your movie. The Rock is great, much as he was in the previous film. His Danny DeVito impression is fantastic, although he may have been one-upped later in the film by another actor (who I won't name for spoiler purposes).

This movie was more or less what I expected it to be. Fun, funny, dumb, enjoyable. It's a good Saturday night quarantine movie. I don't think it was quite as good as the first one, but it's enjoyable.

Middle Aged Milf F&*%@ Son-in-Law

6/10. Footage was a little grainy and my computer had trouble loading past the 2:38 mark. The character development was a little weak but the action scenes were good enough to warrant a second viewing 5-6 hours from now.

They did a part two to this. It was elderly GILF *%^> daughter in law. Kinda sucked.

Last film i saw was Snow White and the Huntsman. Gonna rate it a strong 8/10 because it did attempt to and sustained the dark atmosphere which is present in the original Grimm tales, plus they absolutely didn't elaborate on love interests which is always a great thing. The dwarves were the best thing ever and overall liked the villain

Saw JoJo Rabbit last night. Was quite the ride. Comedic yet still very tragic at times. I'd give it a solid 8/10. Excited for Taika Waititi's future.

We saw it with some friends before all this virus stuff happened.

Everything was all fun and games until:

When they show JoJo's mother's shoes while she hangs from the lamppost. My friend's girlfriend lost it. It was incredibly sad.

The thought of her dying without seeing her son become human again is the saddest part for me.

JoJo Rabbit was a way better film than Parasite imo.

Not that Parasite was bad. It didn't hit me in the feels like JoJo did several times.
I think they were the two best films of the year.

Halfway through Parasite, I was saying "Damn, I see why this won best picture" but by the end, I was coming back more towards "meh." The second half of the movie just didn't wow me the way the first half did.

Jojo is definitely one I'll remember for a long time. Taika Watiti's performance is a cherry on top.

Totally agree about Parasite. Was loving it for a good while but I was getting bored by the end.

Jojo was just amazing all-around. I was never bored, and Sam Rockwell deserves an Oscar for his performance. He was hilarious, but also absolutely killed it in the emotional scenes he has. It's hard to make an viewer care about a character who is a literal Nazi (there's a joke here that would get me banned), but he pulls it off.

Captain K was regular German Army. They were not Nazis.

He was also gay so that precludes him from being a party member.

He does a good job of emphasizing that he finds the Nazis and their ethos monstrous.

Incidentally, I can walk people through his medals, he was quite a well decorated officer:

Iron Cross 1st Class. -The equivalent of our Silver Star. An award for extreme gallantry.
Iron Cross 2nd Class -Equivalent of our Bronze Star. Lesser gallantry than above.
Close Combat Badge in Silver -Awarded to those who engaged in hand-to-hand combat for 50 straight days or more.
Wound Badge in Gold -For five wounds or more. Or loss of a limb or an eye.
Infantry Assault Badge -For participating in up to 49 infantry assaults.

And one thing that deserves special mention:

Tank Destruction Badge (x2) -For single-handedly destroying an enemy tank with a hand-held weapon.
