Well its now the offseason for the cavs.

I've seen us linked to Derrick Jones, Harry Giles, MCW and Josh Jackson but not from very credible sources. I think Derrick Jones is the best player we could actually sign this offseason.

TT, Zizic and possibly Delly are likely out the door.

Dates:

Draft Lottery - August 25
NBA Draft - October 15

The salary cap will almost certainly go down. Drummond will pick up his $28 million option. Love will make $31 million next season. Even with TT and Delly leaving the Cavs could be close to the new salary cap.
Hard to say what would be available for FA.

If it's true that the Cavs are very interested in Ball, then they have to investigate a trade for either Sexton or Garland. That's one possible route to improve the roster.

Orlando would be the only team that really makes a ton of sense at the moment that I can think of, Fultz is big enough to defend SG's. I don't really want him but think Gordon would be the player we get. The Gordon/Isaac fit is almost as bad as the Garland/Sexton one just for opposite reasons.

Ball
Sexton
Cedi/Porter/Windler ????
Gordon
Drummond

could be an improvement and we could maybe find a trade for Love, certainly a much bigger team but not very likely to happen

I like the idea of using our pick on a big guard (Ball),,,I don't want to see Garland and Sexton in the starting lineup anymore period...
however when you look at our big men,,the only long term player I see is Nance jr.,,,,Zizic and Tristan are gone and Love will be moved
possibly at the deadline next year. Drummond only signed for basically one more year. Do the cavs have to think big man? Wiseman, Toppin or Okongwu?

I think Sexton showed enough after the all star break to make garland expendable. If we can use him to move up or in some other package attached with Love I’d do it.

Obi should he the target in the draft. He fits the mold for this era. Just don’t go C.

you'd likely be selling very low on Garland.

My suspicion is that Love plays out this contract and signs another to finish his career with the Cavs. If he plays six more solid seasons here he could end up as the franchise leader in rebounds and 3-pointers, and second in all time points. Jersey then hangs in the rafters.

He has a point though. Sexton has showed more promise, Garland (while he did improve) looks like an inferior player currently. He would be the one to move.

However, we also have to factor in KPJ will likely be the best player out of all 3. Picking a guard in this draft would be a disaster.

Toppin, Wiseman, Okoro, Avdija should be the list of guys we look at. Honestly, it may even be worth trading out of this years draft.

yeah if you were going to do it, it would make more sense to make him lead the bench and let Sexton and Ball start. garland will be better next year, so maybe you could showcase him as 6th man and bump what you could get up.

You dont mention Okongwu why not?

unless we get rid of Sexton garland will never look good enough to sell high on. If we can package him for the right player it wouldn’t be selling low.

I would't trade Garland now. Need to give some more time and besides his value is low now. how about a ball/sexton combo as starting and a garland/porter combo as
second team.

As for team salary current 2021 109M plus say 6M for draft pick. Not sure TT is gone if he is willing to accept backup center money of 10M or less.

Would like to see the cavs buy a couple of second round picks.

No one is paying TT more than the mid level. The money isn’t out there for him and he doesn’t play a premium position. I just don’t think we want him back. Too many bigs.

Amazing how unlikely something like this would have seemed in 2016.

Every team to which we might trade him is as aware of all the circumstances affecting him last year as we are. Young player, coming off injury, etc.. No reason to think their valuation will be any different from the Cavs in any particular direction.
