I've been watching basketball for a long time anytime a player gets hit near the basketball they usual get a foul call in their favor but somehow Sexton can get mauled in every game but doesn't get the same type of calls like others do..

I don't understand, why he doesn't get the same respect as players who goes to the basket like he does... I mean,Im not saying he should be like James Harden but he should atleast get more free attempts than he's gotten in his two year career.

Hopefully, he gets more free throw opportunities next season...

He should be drawing more fouls than he is.

Our players be getting killed in the paint and nobody calls a foul on the other team...If,I were the Cavs I would be talking to the league about it because it makes no sense that players like Trae Young can be living on the free throw line with hardly no contact yet Sexton gets hit but no foul is called.

If,Sexton had the same calls as Trae Young he would be averaging around the same amount of points as Luka and Trae...imo

I think it's disingenuous to act like the only reason Trae and Luka double Sexton up in FTA and score significantly more points is because they get more favorable calls.

Checked game logs out of curiosity, and noticed that Sexton shot 8+ free throws 5 times in his last 12 games, compared to 10 times in the previous 135 games of his career. A little bit of cherry picking with the precise threshold, I know. But a player needs to have those big free throw games more than once in a blue moon to be an elite scorer in this league.

Media narrative is how much he's improved as a scorer, but such a horrible defender that it cancels it out. As the media narrative on his scoring grows, so too will his FTAs.

Luka, no. Trae, yes. He gets very favorable calls..and not onyl does he look for them like Harden, he also gets them without any contact.

It's not disingenuous to say Sexton takes the ball to the cup more than either guy.

Collin Shoots 57% at the rim and takes 26% of his shots there Went from 3.1 to 4.1 per game
Luka Shoots 63% at the rim and takes 20% of his shots there Went from 6.3 FTA a game last year to 9.1 this year
Trae Shoots 50% at the rim and takes 18.3% of his shots there Went from 5.1 to 9.3 per game

Collin's trending in the right direction, just not on the level of the other 2. I find it hard to believe they are both getting that many more calls organically, and from watching Trae play a few times, I am quite confident saying he is playing the refs. 9.1 attempts on 20.8 FG attempts? 44% of his shots. So he is getting fouls calls on 16% more shots than he is taking at the rim. Lol. C'mon. Luka is also getting fouled on 44% of his shots. That is 14% more than shots at the rim.

Collin's Free throw rate matches his % taken to the rim almost exactly ~ 25%.

Sexton doesn't cheat the game, and that is admirable. Others taking and draining long range shots early in shot clock with a defender nowhere in sight leads to the likes of Young and Luka and Harden and Curry etc adding it as a weapon by exploiting upward motion rules when they are defended because refs play the odds when they jack it up from way out with some amount of success. It is a terrible judgement call by NBA refs when this happens but it is a rule change issue more than anything and it will continue until changed. Maybe he should do the same thing but somehow expect he is not sinking to that level of cheating.

Collin Sexton on some of the lessons he learned during his rookie season in Cleveland …

"There's going to be a lot of ups and downs; you just gotta make sure that each and every day you come in ready to work and come in with a positive attitude.

"And then also, when you're at the arena, make sure you speak to everyone, just because you might uplift their day as well as they might uplift yours. You just gotta be courteous and be kind to everybody you come in contact with – just because you never know what that little 'Hello, how's your day going?' will mean to them.

“You just never know.”

Got to love the guy.

This is the line of thinking I have an issue with.

That all these other guys are cheating while our guy is pure and admirable.

Never liked his style of game as I am more into traditional pg.... But he is winning me over with his work ethic, tenacity and personality... Still drives me crazy when he has tunnel vision and lack of playmaking, but it is hard to deny how much he loves the game and the way he prepares... Still think that the Cavs need to choose between him and Garland if they want to be a winning team, right now Sexton has the edge...

Well, they aren’t cheating the game as much as they just aren’t giving it their everything. Obviously they reached an equilibrium of wealth and effort that works for them.

Sexton is an outlier In this regard and deserves recognition. I don’t know about “purity,“ but he is certainly more admirable as a player in the sense that he’s a harder worker and has a true passion for something we all love. There’s a reason athletes who possess true obsession are so fascinating to normal folks.

The thing is, anytime a savvy guard pulls up leaning forward it is not a foul on the defense, yet the Curry and Harden club always get the calls. it's bs and makes defending much more difficult.
the fact that Young and Luka and many others gets these calls is nothing more than the league giving free passes to players who sell alot of jerseys and seats. I mean c'mon Trae Young hasn't won anything but look at the love he gets from the media.

I want to be clear that I'm not calling you any of these things, but I feel like the line of thinking we're discussing comes from a very "woe is me" whiny place. In my opinion, saying that Sexton should get an equal or similar number of FTA as those guys is not a thought based in reality.

lol Are you actualy going to die on that hill that claims woe is me is what Sexton supporters in this regard are claiming while it is in reality exactly what the Curry,Harden,Trae Young crowd are doing when they pull up into a defender and "don't" get the call because they are used to the star treatment?
Right on smh
