New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I totally agree. Sure it was not perfect. And it took itself a little too seriously, lacking any semblance of humor that I usually want in even my serious tv shows (though what should we expect when the show is literally called "Dark"). But it's refreshingly ambitious. And I loved how it didn't even try to hold the hands of the viewers - it just expected you to follow. Rarely do I like shows that are purely plot-based with little else to offer - but here the plot was so tightly wound and fascinating that I didn't care. Ultimately, the ending was satisfying too, which is surprising given how many things the show was trying to juggle. Also listening to it in German with subtitles added to the flavor of it.

I actually thought the voice-acting/dubbing was very good. The lips obviously didn't match up, but the character voices, etc., were spot-on. I may try watching it in German next time, though.

Talk about a show that is rewatchable....

I only ever watched season 1 of Westworld, which is one of my favorite seasons of anything I've watched on TV. Are seasons 2 and 3 as good as season 1?

I just started rewatching the first season a few days ago and never watched the second or third when they came out, but I'll post thoughts next week once I get further.

frist few episodes it bothered me, after a while it didn't. Maybe they did a better job with it, maybe I just was too into the plot to notice.

Early on the acoustics didn't sound right, it sounded like someone reading off screen. Haven't noticed that after the first few episodes. I have noticed some of the dialog change vs the words on the screen seems to be designed to make the sound closer to the lip movement.

Turning into a show I'll probably have to watch again to figure out what all I missed the first time through.

I had to rewatch it while I was watching it, which was definitely a first for me. Also thought the opening song and images fit the show perfectly.

I watched each season as it came out and had to rewatch the previous season(s) each time because the show is so fucking complex that it was hard to remember half of what was going on from a year earlier.

Season 1 was fantastic, Season 2 was bad, and Season 3 was awful.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has trouble keeping it all straight.

There's all sorts of websites dedicated to keeping it straight. I had a really hard time distinguishing Helge/Tronte, and Claudia/Regina. I know they were mother and daughter, but at approximately the same age, the two actresses looked too much alike.

The one thing --maybe the only thing - I found to be funny in the show was:

Ullrich -- the guy was a dog no matter where/when he was.. And Hannah definitely was a middle-aged contender on the hot/crazy axis.[/quote]

Finished Wallander, all the seasons for both BBC and Swedish tv.

Excellent in all forms.

A non-serious question regarding Westworld with some minor spoilers. If you've seen season one through to the end, you're fine.

Where in the fuck do the robots get all the real bullets from?!?!?!

I get when they're using the automatic weapons the guards use, because obviously, but where are they getting all the revolver and rifle bullets from? I can't imagine that shit is just lying around.

Speaking of Ullrich, I'm in the middle of season 2 and thought they used the same actor for old Ullrich and the middle one. I told my daughter "he's the only one they used the same actor for, it makes it easy to keel him straight" and she said she thought so too, but looked it up and it's a different actor. Sure enough, she was right.

Not going to bother spoilering this because I don't think it's an actual spoiler, but the guy running the power plant in present day looks exactly fucking like the kid they picked to play his younger self.

For the fans. @Man Called X*

For Cardassia!

*Can you pick out all five references?

Are we looking for just the 5 references to ST? Is it really as simple as Damar, Garak, A dead Jem'Hadar, bottles of Kanar, and the Cardassian Union logo(Variant 11a I believe)?

Almost, not Garak.

And not the logo. Something else.
