The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This game is basically Assassin's Creed Odyssey but set in Japan, and I mean that in the best way possible.

Always thought the AC series really dropped the ball by never having an entry set in Japan, and this game definitely scratches that itch while integrating (read: stealing) all the same concepts that the Creed series did from Witcher III.

Plus it's absolutely gorgeous. I also love the standoff mechanic. I've been foregoing stealth simply because it's so much fun to call out a motherfucker and insta kill him. I've already unlocked the ability where you can kill two in a row that way. It's really satisfying when you get a leader that way.

Also really like the way there are no objective markers, but instead the wind leads you to where you want to go.

I’ve hardly bothered going the stealth route. I’m having way too much fun being a one man army and massacring bases full of Mongols.

This game definitely plays up to the old samurai movie genre in the absolute best possible way.

I like to turn on the black and white mode for the duels, but the game is too gorgeous to leave it on all the time.

This game has a similar appeal to me as the Witcher, in that it's so easy to just not play the main story because there's so much exploring and so many side missions to do.

Not on the same scale as Witcher, of course, but the map is a lot bigger than I initially thought. I put a ton of time into this game over the weekend and I'm only a little bit into Act 2 because I took the time to explore the entirety of the first area.

ETA: Also, Sekiro definitely helped with the learning curve when it comes to parrying in this game. The time windows are very forgiving, and there's even charms you can get that make them even more forgiving.

I bought a bottle of Nikka Coffey Grain today to sip on while playing this game so I didn't have to kill off my much harder to find Nikka From the Barrel bottle.

Took a page from your book and turned on black and white mode for one of the duels that I found while I was out exploring.

10/10 would recommend.

Looks like Halo

Gave me Halo 3 vibes. My favorite Halo gameplay wise.

Can't wait to see more considering ya know, they've been working on this installment for like.... 5 whole years now.

I’m definitely buying it. I want to see some MP. Just doesn’t look like anything extraordinarily new. Even visually, aesthetically... looks like Halo. Dunno what I was expecting though.

Today just confirmed I won’t be buying a Series X at least not for a couple years. Thinking I may just hold off on next gen completely till late 2021.

Aren't you on PC?

Not sure what the point of having a console is in 2020 outside of PS exclusive games.. which have slowly started to come to PC as well.

As a PC and console gamer, ease of use is the big one for me. Now that we've got so many different launchers and game stores, it can be a pain in the ass.

Love having to open one launcher for it to crash. Reopen it play a few games. Switch to another launcher for other titles, and a 3rd and 4th launchers.

I mean that takes like 5 seconds though to do in the grand scheme of things.

And then you have the internet easy access right at your fingertips if you feel like taking a break from a long gaming session

I do game on PC, and it used to be my primary. 60” 4K TVs and recliners just eventually made consoles my primary source of gaming over the past generation. I’d buy Halo on console way before I’d buy it on PC. Not having to worry about fucking around with settings and FPS is nice too.

Still game a lot on PC though. Mostly stuff like strategy games and MMOs that suck on console or aren’t there at all. Havent really seen any PS exclusives coming to PC besides Horizon, 3 years after it came out on console... some rumors about Bloodborne which is 5 years old... I dunno. Rather just play it on PS5.
