BROWNS OFF-SEASON 2020

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Athletic did a survey of NFL agents. Here is one gem:

"I would probably get rid of the Haslams from Cleveland. They’re horrible owners. They’ve done a horrible job. It’s unfair to the city of Cleveland how bad they are at what they do. There’s a lot of bad ownership in this league, but they’ve been so bad from the start.”
It's not like they're wrong. Let's just hope we see some improvement.

There is nothing more difficult in professional sports than "getting rid of an owner". They run the league, they pay the commissioner to be the face of their collective decisions. The NBA realized they screwed up selling the San Diego Clippers to Donald Sterling in the early 1980s, but it took them until 2014 to pressure him to sell. So it's all well and good to want the Haslams gone, but it's more realistic to pressure them to turn over more decision making to professionals. I feel like the NFL and Cleveland fans had a few wins in that regard, hopefully they will have more.

I don't mind criticism that provides specific examples of their failures, but I do mind blind quotes from the anonymous agent whom predicates their argument on an emotional appeal instead of a specific action by the Haslams.

We lost our chance to get rid of jimmy with the pilot flying j rebate scandal. I’ll never forgive the fbi for failing to lock him up.

The NFLPA executives unanimously recommended the latest CBA proposal made by the NFL that would allow the 2020 NFL season to move forward as scheduled.
A handful of key issues and questions from the last few weeks have been settled. First, training camp activities will move forward as scheduled on July 28, including on-field practices starting 16 days into camp with the first padded practice scheduled for 21 days into camp. The new agreement guarantees the salary cap will be at least $175 million for the 2021 season. Practice squads will increase to 16 players. There will be two categories for opt-outs: high risk and not. Also, the 2020 season was described as "pay as you go," therefore if the season were to halt entirely, players would not be paid for unplayed games. The 32 team representatives still need to vote on this deal, but it would be shocking if they go against the NFPLA's recommendation.

So I watched the Indians game today just to see the ads in the stadium. There are already a couple of teams who said that fans won't be in attendance for the NFL. If they could fill progressive field with that many ads, I have no doubt first energy will be tarped off and filled with more ads. I think the New York and California nfl teams will go build their ad revenue in the coming weeks and word will get out how much they are getting. The rest of the NFL teams will most likely start to explore it and come to the conclusion that limited capacity means less money than no fans with tarped off seats with ads everywhere.

The Chiefs' Canadian medical doctor lineman opts to sit out defending his Super Bowl ring,...

Makes a lot of sense for him, but I doubt that will be that many others; the opt-out salary, even with pre-existing conditions, is not even close to the "NFL lifestyle salary."

Billionaires don’t really go to prison in the US so your emotional output towards the FBI specitically is misallocated imo
