The 2020 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You're making us sound almost too civil over here... remember the people wanting Bauer off this team because he dared to warm-up with long toss and that he'd never amount to anything because he was too much of a nutjob?
I was vague on my Bauer comment for a reason :chuckle: He's understandably divisive due to his personality (I love him)

Bauer certainly had his detractors, but in the end, I don't think you'll find many on here who wouldn't at least give him credit for introducing new training methods to guys on this staff, specifically Clevinger.

Oh yes I remember

Not sure how it was on this board but over on IBI, there were those of us that got absolutely pummeled for saying anything negative about  "Mickey the Great". But as time moves on, the starting pitching has only gotten better. And those that Mickey was going to fix - Cody Anderson and Danny Salazar - are no longer. One of the lasting tributes to him.

And then there was that collection of arms over in NY that he inherited and their "outstanding" performance while he was there. That bunch he labeled as even better than the tribe staff going in, which sat real well with the pitchers in Cleveland.

And now he sits atop the 4.95 ERA starting staff in Anaheim. I think we are talking the same Callaway
Oh yeah...

I recall the long drawn out criticism of you (and me) regarding what I referred as Mickey's inability to understand.. it's not the job of the pitcher to conform his talent to Mickey's way.. It is the job of Mickey to conform his methods to the talent..

I further stated that Bauer was the talent !..

Mickey didn't miss an opportunity to throw anyone but himself under the bus when something went askew.. I was told "... look what callaway did with Kluber !.. " well, okay.. but truth be told.. Kluber was an introspective/non-leader who kept to himself almost to a point of being a hermit.. After the 2018 season when the Klubot was starting to see a small drop in velo, Kluber was known to seek out counsel from Bauer..

There is no doubt that Bauer and his omnipresent personality was something Mickey couldn't handle and wouldn't handle. Mickey clashed with Cookie.. for no apparent reason.. There were several points of contention that would find their way into the media.. all revolving around Mickey's "my way or the highway" approach. I was THRILLED to see him go..

..and stated so several times.. in several ways up to and including his time in Cleveland and since..One thing I could add.. most of the people at the IBI site.. would harangue you for your position with Bauer.. Better you than me.. lol..

Thoughts?..

Yeah, this apparent blood feud from the other board is really weird to me :chuckle:
Lots of comings and goings in baseball, but I guess some grudges die hard. I mean I still hate Keith Hernandez for stealing our money that one season at the end of his career. :chuckle:

Not sure if mentioned, should get an update on Roberto Perez's shoulder.

Doubt he'll be in the lineup tonight.
Leon is a more than adequate back up, but our staff will likely suffer if Berto is out for any length. Hoping for good news on this front.

Collaboration between Callaway and Bauer/Driveline and the Indians openness to trying new things with their development and advancement deserve a lot of credit for laying the ground work for what is going on here.

Clevinger, Bieber, Plesac, Civale, Karinchak...all of those guys are reaping a lot of benefits from things taken from Bauer and Driveline that the Indians willingly adopted and have since expanded upon with their pitching development.

You're willing to pay $90 for 60 games??? You do realize that's $1.50 per game, don't you? You, sir, are a true Indians fan!

I have been paying $200-$250 for 16 Browns football games for 15 years now. I consider a 4-1 Indians fans with a top 5/10 player on it and several other all stars to be quite the bargain at $1.50 a game when I have been spending $15 a game to ass raped by the Browns for years.

I never believed Keith Hernandez when he said there was a 2nd spitter.

Strange to call Frankie Lindor just one of several other All-Stars :chuckle:

Yes! I spent 5 minutes trying to think of a way to make a Seinfeld joke in response to his post! You’re a better man than I!

I think/hope Franky was the "top 5/10 player".
As to Hernandez, all I do is serve up opportunity, but you guys have to write your own copy. :)

The Indians and Cavs games are an insanely great value when you break it down on a game-by-game basis. The Browns, OTOH, are about $25 per game, which is a lot to pay to get ass raped. Butt I keep doing it.
