BROWNS OFF-SEASON 2020

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This could just be lip service, but it certainly looks as if Andrew Berry was able to assuage Drew freaking Rosenhaus. Pretty damn impressive for a rookie GM. Speaks to what’s been repeated previously about AB’s ability to connect with people.

I imagine he made it clear that a player's worth increases exponentially on the back of a great season, and that Browns' TEs are going to have a really big year.

And that success is rewarded with big bucks.

Drew Rosenhaus is the last guy to say something as lip service. If he wrote that, its legit.

Berry also told him that as a former first rounder who hasn't lived up to expectations with 2 years remaining on his contract following a season where he played 4 games, he has no leverage and needs to STFU. He got sold a bill of goods from Rosenhaus and it ain't happening so get ready for the season or cost yourself a ton of money in the long run, either way it's his choice.

I understand that Berry *could* have told Rosenhaus that because it really is the reality of Njoku’s situation, but I really don’t think Rosenhaus would have released a statement saying Berry had good conversations with Njoku if all he did was tell him to pound sand.

Rosenhaus always has more leverage when it comes to player negotiations than people realize because he has no shame whatsoever and is beyond willing to turn any situation into a complete media circus. Most NFL teams simply do not want to deal with that sort of distraction and will ultimately cater to what Rosenhaus wants rather than have a fiasco on their hands.

I genuinely believe the Browns believe and told Rosenhaus that they see Njoku as a significant contributor this year and possibly even next year. Harrison Bryant needs time to work on his body and overall development. It’s not like he was a top 20 pick. We’ll see how things shake out, but on paper this offense is shaping up to be one of the most tight end friendly schemes in the league.
