James Wiseman Scouting: Discuss

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
And to be clear, Wiseman is extremely talented! He was the top recruit in the class for a reason. It just stinks that we haven't really seen him play organized basketball in so long.

There's a big jump in competition and a lot of questions you'd like to have answered between a guy's senior year of HS and the time you draft him.

I'd probably lean his way at #1, but there are plenty of reasons to be wary when there's so little recent tape on a guy.

I'm not that invested in the draft because I don't have a clear favorite because of the lack of tape.
I know I have players that I certainly don't want, but I just don't have a clear favorite at all.

I just hope we make a good decision some how.

I feel similarly.

It was an underwhelming class anyways, and the lack of tape just leaves so many guys lumped together. Just hoping we're fortunate enough to pick someone who is actually an NBA player.

Yeah, that's pretty funny.
It seemed as he was at the very least a close relative to Wiseman just judging by how much he loved him. Now, he is just solid? that's odd.

I guess watching youtube clips can have a really strong effect on your judgment, depending which player you saw last.

If you think this is unabashed love, you really missed out on Eli's Eyes and his obsession with Perry Jones III.

*Eat that ass* Going back through the 2012 Draft thread, we are all terrible talent evaluators.

I hadn't done much research on Azubuike before. His body is more NBA ready than Wiseman, who needs to add some weight. I really hope we end up with one of them. I'd be happy with either one tbh.

You might want to do a little deeper research...

The embarrassing/concerning thing is I've had Wiseman as the best choice for the Cavaliers for a year, but all this hyperbole about him has had me questioning my eyes and opinion. And now, supposedly, Azuibuke is just as good??? I feel like I'm in the matrix and don't know what's real anymore.

It's legit to think Wiseman is the best prospect. His measurables are awesome and he has a good touch. He is just unknown. I mean people made so much fun of Mitchell Robinson, but if we re-drafted he would go in the lottery. If any of those shooting vids of Wiseman translate to the court, he might be the best prospect.

The move to larger centers is legit IMO. Their skill game is catching up and there was just a serious lack of center talent during the Warriors run. Mozgov was helpful against them until his knee took his mobility. Like if you can play small ball with a guy like Davis, that is better than starting PJ Tucker. The small ball revolution says as much about how good Draymond guards centers than anything else IMO.

Deandre Jordan and Drummond were 2 of the best centers during that time, and they were not skilled at all.

For me, Wiseman is just such an unknown. I won't be mad if we draft him, not even at 1. My board is like

Ball
Wiseman
Okongwu
Haliburton
Okoro
Vassel

I take BPA in the first 2 slots only, then I draft more for need. I consider everyone after the top 2 in the same tier essentially, so go with your gut there. I've soured on Deni some, but even then I think he will be a valuable starter.
