Do Not Sell My Personal Information
@FiveThous @Jack Brickman @Hurl Bruce

How are you guys handling paid leagues this year?

I'm involved with a few, run a couple myself. How comfortable are you guys in continuing leagues with a larger buy in, knowing that teams could be adversely affected by Covid and essentially taking the game out of their hands?

Curious to get your thoughts, because I'll be having these conversations with my own leagues in the coming weeks.

Leaning towards just having my own leagues for fun this year.

I am going to bring up the need for expanded rosters or Covid IR spots to cover the expected attrition due to the virus.

We're also going to have to talk about what happens if the season gets cancelled at some point.

It's not going to be easy to maneuver, but as much needs to be down in writing to cover as many contingencies as possible.

General consensus in my paid leagues is that any dues will be carried over into the following year if the season is canceled and no winner can be crowned.

I will say that I was planning to launch a paid RBF dynasty league this year, but now I am thinking it would probably be smarter to wait until next year. I'm still undecided. I may make a post later tonight about it and see if enough people are interested, with the obvious caveat being that, if the season is canceled, funds will be applied toward the 2021 season and, being that it's going to be a contract league, any contracts will be able to be voided next summer with no consequence. I'll probably also come up with a back-up plan if at least half the season is played, like whoever has the top two records will be declared winner and runner up. That'll be something to discuss with the league members, though.

What are your thoughts on Chubb for this year? Are you worried about Hunt in PPR? I think he's going to dominate under this new scheme, but I see so much trepidation online about him.

From what I've seen, a lot of people are using what happened when Hunt came back last year as evidence that he'll sap too much of Chubb's workload. To me, that seems like a dubious way to look at things because it was under a totally different coaching staff that was also horribly inept.

I'm picking 11th in a redraft PPR in a couple weeks. I think this is a tough spot to pick in. There could be any number of clumped players to choose from: Chubb, Davante, Tyreke, Jacobs, Mixon, Sanders. The homer in me wants to grab Chubb if he's there.

I'd rank them Sanders, Chubb, Mixon, Jacobs personally. Sanders looked fantastic the back half of last year and has no meaningful competition for touches. We know Chubb is elite but he's got the stiffest competition in the backfield. Mixon and Jacobs are interchangeable to me so I'll take the guy whose talent I like more. Plus, Mixon's team didn't add a day two RB in Bowden who will almost certainly vulture some touchdowns.

Hello gents,

I saw somewhere that some folks were doing a weeky DFS style league on Draft Kings instead of their regular redraft season-long league for this year. This style could end any time and there wouldn't be any playoffs or anything to worry about in case there are any Covid-related disasters with the NFL.

We'd form a private league and play $1 weekly contests. We'd also throw in a one-time fee for the overall winner ($5, $10, $20, whatever). Each week, the winner would take the pot from the $1 entries, but everybody would get points for how they finish (ex 10 participants gives 10 to first, 9 to second down to 1 for last). Guy with the most points over the course of the season wins the overall pot.

Anybody interested? I've never set up a league like this on that site, but it doesn't seem too difficult to do.

Absolutely

I am very fine with not playing this year.

Last season was such an atypical miserable slog that I am glad I have an excuse to not participate.

I think I will stayed retired.

Anybody have a good tool for calculating value for trading picks in a redraft? I've never done it in redraft leagues that don't have keepers.

Maybe just use a dynasty calculator that allows for start-up picks? A start-up draft is essentially the same as a redraft draft as far as pick values are concerned.
