Well...he might be right about that. Did anyone notice whether OBJ was single or double covered on the throws in which he was targeted?

This game Thursday is going to go one of two ways. It will be similar to the win against The Jets last year or the loss at Denver last year. No in between.

The one that was almost picked was right in the middle of two zones. If he makes that throw we are praising him today.

But he didnt.

Regardless, I have an issue with the three boneheaded plays by OBJ. The critical dropped pass, the facemask, and the failure to reestablish himself in bounds. There is no way a starting WR -- mush less an alleged star/superstar -- should have that many bad plays in a single game. QB's are not always going to be perfectly on target, and they're not always going to make the right reads. But when they do, WR's have to make those plays. "Talent" doesn't matter if the execution is that poor.

And I know Baker didn't play well. But he's playing a position that's the hardest in the league to learn, he's had the whole 4 different coaches and 3 different coordinators in 3 years thing, plus the reworked footwork in a Covid-shortened offseason. Being a QB is complicated.

I just don't see any equivalent potential excuse for OBJ's errors. Those are all simply matters of pure execution, and he's more than experienced enough for them to have been routine plays to do correctly.

Im starting to think the luxury of OBJ is pointless if we are running heavy. We knew Chubb would explode, but we didnt know he would be that much better in year 2. Maybe adding a true vertical threat instead of OBJ would open up the offense.

Can we get a legit QB if we package up Baker and Odell?

Why would a team trade us a good QB for Baker and Odell? If Baker isn't good enough to start for us, who'd want him as their starter? OBJ's value is pretty low right now as well. It'd have to be a team with two good QB's on the roster. There just aren't many of those around the league. I just can't think of many teams willing to trade a legit QB for a guy that would likely be the backup and WR with a lot of questions.
