Cleveland Browns 2020 Regular Season: What a Ride!

OBJ just doesn't attack the ball the same way Landry (or anyone else for that matter) does.

Gotta give it some more time but I'm leaning towards trading OBJ more than not at this point. I think we could still snag a 1st or 2nd, given that most teams just view the Browns as inept and incapable of utilizing him properly.

I would trade him if we could get a 1st or 2nd, I just don’t think his trade value is that high right now. He’s coming off hip surgery, hasn’t been super productive in a couple years now, and has had some injury and locker room concerns in the past. One other possible reason I think teams would shy away from him is it’s likely going to be very difficult to integrate a guys like OBJ mid season. Outside of a QB, I think WRs (especially #1 WR) are the most difficult to work in midseason due to the timing that needs to be developed with the QB and the rest of the offense.

We’d have to be pretty lucky to get a 1st given his contract. It’d have to be the absolute perfect situation with him going to a good team with an experienced coach and QB. Otherwise, I think whoever traded for him be taking a massive risk.

Mainly for the reasons I listed above, about the only places I see being a great fit are SEA, PIT, NE and maybe BUF, IND or MIN. I think he’d be a great fit on Houston as well, but probably doesn’t make much sense after they traded Hopkins and added Cooks.

Unless we’re forced to trade him now or someone inexplicably offers a first, we can get a better deal in the offseason by attaching other players or picks.

I can already see the narrative forming painting OBJ as this teams scapegoat and that makes me sad. It makes me sad because in the same breath that people say you can't win in this league and be led by a WR people don't hesitate to say that OBJ isn't even that good. Okay then if the only thing that makes OBJ a number 1 WR is his salary and not his play then why are people scapegoating him? If Landry really is our best WR why is OBJ getting so much share of the blame for why we haven't been good?

If OBJ is our number 2 and Juice is our number 1 why are people making it out to seem like this team is struggling because our number 2 WR is struggling? Really? This team sucks because our number 2 WR has not been playing well even though his numbers are nearly identical to our other good WR?

I only post this because I can see when people talk about Jarvis Landry they are also taking shots at OBJ which still ignores what the real issue with this team is. It's the dude behind the center who gets the ball every play.

I'm not putting all the blame on OBJ but when he is your top WR and he's the one making the mistakes he deserves some of the blame. Baker is mostly to blame for the offensive miscues we saw on Sunday but OBJ did him no favors. We need Baker to get the ball out quick, to be accurate, trust his lineman and find that rhythm he had in 2018. He needs to learn to take what the defense gives him instead of always forcing the issue.

I agree and when Baker consistently plays better and OBJ is still "struggling" then we can have that conversation. But right now OBJ has statistically been on par with Jarvis Landry since being traded here so it's not like OBJ is playing levels below what Jarvis is playing at yet people are painting the picture as if OBJ is Hollywood Higgins and Jarvis is De'Andre Hopkins.

The problem is Jarvis is significantly out-performing his on his historical career data while OBJ is significantly UNDER performing on his.

Jarvis also has brought a leadership and energy level to our team that OBJ has not.

Your constant defense of OBJ is getting sort of tiring.

Have you looked at their stats. they're nearly the same. My point is that their stats are so similar I don't see how people can praise one and not the other. Have you been in the Jarvis Landry thread? All people did in there was criticize him as an overrated possession receiver that's a stat chaser. People were complaining saying we overpaid him. Now all of a sudden he's levels above OBJ when they are nearly the same player? It's funny in the light my guy.

OBJ is supposed to make special plays. That's his reputation. He's not really lived up to it in his time here.
Jarvis Landry is supposed to be a chain mover with great hands. He has been living up to that rep for 2+ years.

Now... I don't think it makes sense to give up on OBJ yet. But, he deserves criticism.
Same with Baker.

Hopefully Thursday brings better performances.

Personally, I think we need to see more than one week against the second best team in the NFL that was coming back with the same coaching staff and largely the same personnel before we sound the alarms. If we get curb stomped by Cincy, then it's time to start worrying.

While this is logical and my head agrees, my heart doesn't agree and is broken

Just watched the week 2 Madden simulation for the game. Somehow it made me more mad than week 1.....and it had us beating Cincy.

Not sure why, but this actually makes me feel a bit better, lol
