Some potentially huge gaming news hit today as Microsoft just bought ZeniMax, the company that owns Bethesda, id, Arkane, MachineGames, and several other companies whose franchises include Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Dishonored, Wolfenstein, and Doom.
It sounds like a lot of the titles from these companies will still be multi-platform for the near future, although you have to think that at some point Microsoft would be foolish not to make major titles exclusive to the Xbox/PC. That's major leverage for them to get gamers to buy an Xbox and I can't see them not taking advantage of it. However, I'm sure these companies may have already signed deals with Sony for upcoming games and those deals will be honored.
Another possibility is that major games will remain multi-platform but will be available on Gamepass, which means anyone signed up gets to play them for free. This won't help Sony at all but will definitely get more people subscribed to Gamepass while still making money off of PS/Switch sales.
Still a huge acquisition for Microsoft, though. This is the shot in the arm they needed to compete with Sony's army of high-profile exclusives.
