2020 Wild Card Series - Cleveland Indians vs. New York Yankees

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This team is going to look dramatically different next year IMO.

It wouldn't shock me at all if 12 or 13 of the 28 players on the Wild Card roster aren't on the Opening Day roster next year.
I fear the offseason (unless Dolan can find a partner or even a buyer) but I would feel a lot better if I knew Tito was getting healthy and would be our mgr next season

2016 felt like we were growing into a powerhouse. That year we were definitely ahead of where we should have been. Lost a key bat & key pitching. Yet we nearly closed it out in 5.

Added talent in 17 & 18. Were the favorites in 2017. We have underachieved ever since. A lot of let down. We can't develop hitting for shit. Our pitchers shit down their leg . We continually put ourselves in a position to lose right when it counts.

I'm not sure what the problem is but this FO and coaching staff need a shakeup and we need to cut bait with Los, Lindor and Hand. What sucks is nearly no one will be adding salary in this offseason.

Tough to end it that way with basically every pitcher having their worst results of the season.

Crazy game, baseball is.

Still, I enjoyed all the wins along the way, and talking baseball with you guys.

It will be an interesting offseason, but the team is certainly set up well moving forward.

I will probably be more of a lurker for the foreseeable future. Landed my dream job last week, and it’s going to be incredibly time consuming.

Love all you miserable people :chuckle:

Waited too long on Lindor. Feel like that’s one where they caved to the fans, but they should have just made a move last year at the deadline. Santana is no go for his contract. I would most definitely trade Hand...you’re paid $7MM to close that exact game or be gone with you. Ramirez, Luplow and the new kid Naylor were the only ones with some balls. Oh yeah...f Deshields. 0 business being in CF. What happened to Zimmer? I get he’d go 0-7 with 6 k’s but he fields that fly ball that started the avalanche.

bauer continues to be a stud in the playoffs, Bieber had his worst game in the playoffs - but as the last two games showed, pitching aint a problem
Yeah, he’s a stud when he’s not sacrificing digits to his drone hobby.

Nah - the owners and management don't care enough to fundamentally change things.

The Indians should have a very deep rotation next season.

Bieber, Plesac, Carrasco are the top three and then you have Civale, McKenzie, Quantrill, Allen and Moss fighting for two spots.

Convert 1-2 of the guys who don't win rotation spots into relief guys, get Clase back and possibly bring up some of the young guys who weren't able to pitch this year to add to Karinchak, Wittgren and Maton and you should have a deep bullpen even without Hand.

The lineup... who knows. I think Santana, Lindor and Hernandez are all gone. Naquin and DeShields *should* be gone. Mercado they could maybe try and get right because of his defensive skills. Luplow is a fine cheap platoon option.

C: Roberto Perez/Austin Hedges platoon
1B: Josh Naylor
2B: Jose Ramirez
SS: ?
3B: ?
LF: Jordan Luplow
CF: ?
RF: Franmil Reyes
DH: ?

A whole bunch of holes to fill and not a whole lot of intriguing options near the majors to fill them depending on how you feel about guys like Bobby Bradley, Jake Bauers and Daniel Johnson.

I don't think it's a matter of ownership *wanting* to fundamentally change things. I think they are perfectly content to be above average next year and "contend" for the playoffs.

I think they're just going to significantly shed salary and lower the payroll by maybe as much as 30-40 million in one swoop (if not more).

Anyone with a big salary (outside of Ramirez because he's still a huge bargain for his production and Carrasco for sentimental reasons) is going to be sent out IMO.

I’ve been pushing to change the nickname to “Spiders”, but I think Pants-shitters might be more apropos.

Well another season has gone by and I figured they would lose tonight the way yesterday went, but honestly the amount of walks in today's game really stated the umps was the hitters friend and the Indians had multiple guys who they legitimately struck out that the ump didn't call out. Hand had a strikeout in that 9th inning, and Urshela was struck out before he hit the HR. Glad to see the fight in the guys especially the pinch hit from Luplow.

Naquin will be 30 by next May. He is what he is, never turned into much after a promising rookie campaign.

Hope the team moves on from him after this season. Give somebody else a chance in the OF.

Absolutely. Both he and DeShields should be non-tendered. Daniel Johnson needs to be given a chance to platoon with Luplow in RF.

In order to trade Hand they'll have to pick up the $10M option. How likely do you think that is?

This is what happens when you go into the playoffs with Lindor, Santana, Bieber, Carrasco, Naquin, Reyes, and Hand contributing next to nothing or worse.
