Games of great importance this week
I have to admit I've only been able to watch like 5 mins of CFB so far, so no idea how good anyone is. Except that the B12 blows
Florida vs Texas AM
Texas AM is undeservedly ranked again, partially buoyed by a chunk of the nation not playing. And in true TAMU fashion, they lost, but didn't drop out of the polls. Never fails.
Florida seems to have a real offense this year with Kyle Trask having a big start. Everyone assumes Bama will cruise to the SEC West title now that LSU turned back into a pumpkin and Auburn still isn't good. However, the East seems like a Florida-Georgia battle, and Georgia has to play Bama in the regular season. Florida could lose to UGA, but still win the SEC East if they win out and UGA loses to Bama plus a random upset.
North Carolina vs Virginia Tech
Not gonna lie, I forgot who is in what division in the ACC. But they have no divisions this year, so ANYONE in the ACC (plus Notre Dame) can lose to Clemson by 30 in the ACC title game. UNC has serious momentum as a program, with Mack Brown killing it on the recruiting trail. UNC misses Clemson in the regular season (Va Tech doesn't) so this is huge for them.
Tennessee vs Georgia
Tennessee is back! Like Texas and Miami, Tennessee has been 'back; many times since Phillip Fullmer left. People think wins over the 2nd best team in South Carolina and the 5th best team to leave the B12 means they are back. Georgia has had some, uh, musical chairs at QB, but seem to have righted the ship. I assume UGA wins big.
Texas vs Oklahoma
Oklahoma St. is undefeated. Once they lose a game, Texas at 1 loss becomes the B12's best bet to make the CFP. If Texas loses here, the B12 will either need Okie St to run the table (nope) or some major help. Like, if the B1G Title is undefeated OSU vs undefeated Wisconsin and the SEC title is 0-1 loss Florida/UGA vs undefeated Alabama....I have a hard time seeing how any 1 loss B12 team makes it.
So B12 needs Texas here. And given how Texas has been since Colt McCoy left....eh.
Clemson vs Miami
Miami is back! Seriously, go back and look at the Miami Hurricane's rosters in the lates 90s/early 2000s. Multiple future NFL All Pros at every position group except QB. Since then, they'be been mediocre for 15 years save 2017. Maybe Manny Diaz has them on the path back to being a power, but I have trouble imagining they are anything close to Clemson yet.
