2020 Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
yeah if you were going to do it, it would make more sense to make him lead the bench and let Sexton and Ball start. garland will be better next year, so maybe you could showcase him as 6th man and bump what you could get up.
You hope Garland will be better..I am uncertain about him at this time.

FA Rondo to Cavs! Anyone?

I will personally help Morey write his "I'm Coming Home" letter.

Would be our best GM in franchise history easily.

He was okay for Rockets. But he traded everything for a 32 year old PG who can't shoot. Then quit after the season. I really don't think he is all that great.

Yes, the Cavaliers "adore" Larry Nance Jr. They're not trading him unless they're floored by the offer. This is supposed to be a weak draft so that 14th round pick probably has less value than in a normal year.

The only way I can see this happening is if the Cavs are in love with Wiseman and have a deal in place to ship the #5 and Kanter to the Warriors for the #2 pick. So it would basically end up being Nance for Wiseman, Poirier, and the #14. Supposedly the Warriors want to win this year and would be willing to move the #2 pick. They would get Kanter in exchange for dropping three spots. I'm not sure he fits their style of play and they probably can't take on his salary so maybe a contract comes back to make the money work.

I can't see a straight trade of Nance to the Celtics for that package.
The Cavs brass loves Nance, but he’s not getting us the #2 pick. Here’s a trade I could see happening:

To CLE: Smart, Langford, draft pick
To BOS: Nance, Windler

The reason the Cavs might do it is threefold:

1) their defense has been horrible and Marcus Smart would certainly help them in that area
2) they reportedly loved Langford in the 2019 draft.
3) picking a big, like Okongwu or Toppin, could presumably make Nance expendable.

That was kind of a "rearrange Titanic deck chairs in order to 'do something' scenario," in which running it back wasn't going to get them over the hump and there weren't a lot of other good options, a la when we had to rearrange chairs when GS got KD and then when Kyrie forced out.

The only bad unforced error on Moneyball Morey's part was the Ryno deal, where he was still arguably the 3rd or 4th best true UFA that year but had a severely inflated market value because of the capsplosion. Unfortunately, there was zero room at all for such errors against GS, simply because they got one of the only better UFAs that year, and had other good Curry/first contract deals to maneuver around the cap.
