2021 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just to be clear, I am advocating the Browns trade up for a quarterback from wherever their first round pick lands.

If they're willing to part with their 2022 first, there absolutely will be a market.

Would that make whoever they take the day one starter? a 2021 1st and 2022 first? That's a dude who you must have a ton of faith in.

Yes it would.

Keenum would be the backup. Mayfield would be off the team.

It's still early but I don't think Berry any Stefanski will have that same approach. I think a lot is going to depend on where we are drafting. I think they have a certain value placed on QB in their system. I'm not saying they're gonna be cheap but I don't think that they will overvalue the position like a lot of teams do.

Then they're not as smart as everyone thinks they are.

QB is the most valuable and most important position in all of sports by a wide margin and if this regime doesn't agree, we have much bigger problems.

So Mayfield singlehandedly holds the offense back this year...and then the front office turns around and undervalues the QB position when finding his replacement? Seems a little nonsensical.

If Berry is able to trade up to secure a top QB in the draft it may end up being a blessing. With all the extensions the Browns need to dish out over the next 2 years, restarting the clock on a rookie QB contract may save us...ASSUMING you hit on said QB.

What I meant was I don't think they are going to force a QB if the value isn't there. Like the Mitch Trubisky trade.

What extensions are looming other than Denzel Ward?

Nick Chubb, Larry Ogunjobi, Wyatt Teller to rattle off a few. Also would free up money to address spot needs in free agency.

The first two might not get extensions. I don't think Wyatt Teller is going to break the bank either.

Sorry, I'm not buying the Browns trading a lot of draft capital to take the second or third best QB prospect. Their record is going to be really good, partially due to the weak teams coming up in the schedule.

This is the year to see if Baker can develop, which if you look at coaching hires has always been the plan for the 2020 season. I am eyeing up the edge defenders who can replace Vernon, safety help, and the corners who can bump Greedy Williams and his shoulder to the roster bubble.

Nonsense, haven't you heard? He can't get any better because you can't teach height, and field vision/reading a defense is something you either have or you don't! And unlike Josh Allen he's already at his ceiling because he's played football for 30 years longer than him! /s

(Only slight exaggeration of some of the things I've read in the last...wait, it's only been 2 days?)

On the original topic...any safeties projected in the 20th through 32nd range?

Safeties are a discussion of scheme.

Andre Cisco of Syracuse is considered the cream of the crop because of his interception production. If the Browns want a true free safety who created a lot of turnovers in the passing game, this is the guy. He reportedly isn't great in run support. I've barely watched any Syracuse in years.

Jevon Holland of Oregon is a player I liked last season, and I've actually watched him play. He would be great in Wilks system because he can really do it all - man, zone, sure tackler. He isn't the size of Grant Delpit, but he is solid all around.

Travon Moerhig of TCU might be the best scheme fit because he is great in zone and he can lay the wood in run support, but isn't great in man coverage.

I'm sure I'm missing a few top safeties, but that is who I know about.

It goes

Field/Lawrence>>Wilson>Lance>>Trask.

And I’d still be happy with any of them.
