Boston has three first round picks and only one roster spot
How about this deal? The Celtics would offer Hayward's expiring contract and one of their 1st rounders for Drummond and filler. The Cavs would probably go for that.
The Celtics could resign Drummond to 4 years at $100 million easily. And if anyone can get Drummond to play the right way it's Brad Stevens. That guy's a genius.
How about this deal?
CAVS acquire: Hayward, Langford, R. Williams, & 1st round pick.
CELTS acquire: Drummond, Nance, & Windler.

I'd rather Keep Windler and Nance and let Drummon expire. Hayward is not only never fully recovered, but is also an expiring and the same age as Love. Longford and Williams don't sniff Nance as a player. Windler, we don't really know, but from what I heard I'd rather have him than the Celtics pick. Is the 14th pick better than Windler? I know he is old and everything, but I think he is more likely to contribute sooner.
We're giving up way too much in this deal.
Hayward is two years younger then Love...
As for the 14th pick if they could draft someone like Precious Achiuwa at 14 and spend the 5th pick on someone like Okoro our defensive upside as a team is vastly improved long term.
And almost 5 years older than Drummond with a bum foot. Nance is a better defender than rookies for x number of years.
3.5 years older then Drummond. Where are you getting your numbers about age from? Hayward was born in March 1990. Drummond in August 1993.
In any case, Drummond is super durable, and Hayward has never recovered from his injury fully. I just don't want to do the Celtics such a big favor for an older player with serious injury concerns. Like I am more worried about Haywards injury than any of Love's. Not interested in giving them Nance for a shot at precious.
Nance is a player a deal for a star. Youngish player in his prime with stretch ability and good defense on a value contract. Do you trade that for the 14th pick in a weak draft? I don't. If Hayward was Hayward I would do that, but he isn't.
Agree with this unless someone approaches us first earlier with a really good value. At the trade deadline you could have two types of suitors for Drummond:Hold Drummond till the deadline, at least give it a shot to see if we can turn him around, also makes Celtics more desperate + a pick in next years draft is probably a bit better than this years
I never said I would do that deal. I just pointed out you could likely get a higher ceiling player then Windler at 14 and that Hayward isn't as old as KLove.
If it was Hayward + Pick for Drummond I would do it. I'm not high on Drummond at all. I believe he will stunt growth of other players and want him gone sooner rather then later.
