2020 Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I want to see what happens by the deadline rather than deal now for Hayward. I do like his fit as he is a good playmaker with Sexton. He plays well with young players.

I'd also like to see WIndler. He's dope. I don't know if his schtick will work with NBA athletes and the next level of competition and everything, but he is genuinely a really good player.

I'd also like to see what Drummond can bring and if he comes in focused.

But why wait until the deadline to trade for a player like Hayward? He's on an expiring deal and we'd only have him for a handful of games.

I really loved Windler in college. Give him some time but I believe he can make an impact like Duncan Robinson from Miami. Windier really can pop it while moving off the ball and coming off screens as well. Plus he is a lefty.

I might be in the minority here but I am hopeful they retain Drummond. Maybe he isn't the *star* we need but he is a viable all-star caliber player in the right age to TRY and play competitive basketball.

Moving him for a guy like Hayward just doesn't move the needle for me in terms of a risk I'd want to take. Hell if you are going to move Drummond, you might as well consider the Golden State rumor with Wiggins going around. (of which I don't like either)

Getting younger unless we somehow found a young guy who's a star (and I actually think we HAVE that guy on KPJ) isn't where it's at for this team. I think a lot of the people writing stories on the internet miss that fact. The guys on the Cavs and the Cavs themselves are looking to turn this around NOW. Moving Drummond doesn't fit that goal at all.

I always debate with my father and seriously ask him , talent wise...what difference is there between a team like Denver and us? Not a lot. A different dedication to defense and time growing together I'd state. Anywho, I am hopeful we figure out a way to grow this core and add where needed...depending of course on how things actually play out on the court. Man, we all need some Cavs hoops!

He's old, Drummond's young, he's hurt Drummonds not, guys like Drummond Hayward's MAGA, Drummond is the best rebounder in the league Hayward isn't the best at anything.

Hayward is MAGA for real???

Hayward is MAGA for real???

We aren't supposed to talk about it here, but yeah. Look at who he follows on Instagram. His wife made a donation to an orange candidate, and people were saying it was so he wouldn't catch heat for it.

Drummond isn't young they are 3 years apart. Political views don't mean shit. Drummond is the best rebounder too bad the rest of his game is lacking. Neither player will be around when the rest of the core is ready to compete. If they give us Hayward + Pick for Drummond we should take that offer and run.

I disagree with locker room harmony meaning nothing. We are in a charged time, and it matters.

Hayward is old due to his injury. He is probably never going to fully recover from that. He is pretty good still, but he is not a fringe allstar anymore. I personally think it is more likely Andre gets his head right than Hayward gets his foot right.

Yeah I would take the pick. The straight swap was the deal I was discussing.

Right now I think Andre is more valuable, younger, more durable, and might fit in the culture better. It's my argument for the pick in fact

Hayward has never had issues in the lockerroom with anyone? It's ridiculous to say all of a sudden players will take issue with him. He's very well respected around the league.

Also I disagree with Drummond fitting the culture better. Drummond is a selfish player who cares more about stats then fitting in with the team and winning games. He has nice blocks and steal numbers but is a terrible overall defender. Hayward is a team first guy who can help the young players especially KPJ and Windler moreso then Drummond when it comes to developing their game along.

If the Celtics are trading Hayward, there has to be something majorly wrong or they have lost faith in him staying healthy. Hayward, Tatum, and Jaylen Brown is basically what gives the Celtics a mismatch advantage over alot of teams. To have 3 wings that are that versatile on a roster is what so many teams want to build to in the modern NBA.

For the Celtics to give up Hayward without a clear successor would throw up a major red flag for me. I would want draft picks or young players if we did any trade with the Celtics for Hayward. The Celtics have 3 draft picks and 1 available roster spot. They will be looking to move at least 2 young players or draft picks.

They just drafted Romeo Langford at 14 last year. Grant Williams in the 20s. Those 2 can fill in the minutes he got. Langford on the wing and Grant the PF minutes he provided. Celtics lacked size last year and Drummond would basically fill their biggest need. Clearly they would need to sweeten the pot in a Drummond for Hayward trade.

The Cleveland Cavaliers finished the 2019-20 season with the worst record in the Eastern Conference.

Cleveland was rewarded with the No. 5 pick in the NBA Draft, but the team has one major focus as it heads into the offseason.

Cleveland reportedly is focused on improving its defense that had a league-worst 114.8 rating last season.

The Athletic’s Kelsey Russo explained why University of Dayton’s Obi Toppin may not be the best pick for the Cavs at No. 5 because of the focus on the defensive end.

However, the lack of a defensive game as a big is a red flag, especially since the Cavs finished with the worst defensive rating in the league for two consecutive seasons,” Russo wrote. “With a large focus by Cleveland to find a solution to their defensive struggles — whether internally, schematically, in trades or the draft — this draft pick doesn’t totally fit that idea.”

However, the uncertain future of the Cavs’ frontcourt could have them picking Toppin in next month’s draft.

The frontcourt for this upcoming season is crowded with Kevin Love, Larry Nance Jr. and Andre Drummond — if he opts into his player option — Jordan Bell, Dean Wade and potentially Tristan Thompson,” Russo wrote. “But after this season? If Thompson doesn’t re-sign in free agency this offseason and Drummond hits free agency in 2021, the frontcourt could look very different in a short time. That’s where a player like Toppin could come into play. This could be a pick more looking towards the future of this team, and not so much an immediate solution.”

It will be interesting to see if the Cavs stick to their guns about improving defensively, or if they decide a player is too talented to pass up.

It would not be a Drummond for Hayward trade. It would be Drummond for a young player like Robert Williams or the #14 pick in the draft with Hayward thrown in to make the salaries match up. We'd be trading the last year of Drummond's current contract for a young player that we would have for another four years or more. The Celtics can't take on Drummond's $28 M contract without giving one back, so we get Hayward for a year.

It would be an awkward situation with Hayward on the last year of his contract and no future here, but if he stays healthy (and we could limit his minutes) we could trade him at the deadline to a contender for an asset.

That wasn't the deal I was responding to. I was responding to a straight swap
