2019 Draft, Pick #30 - Kevin Porter Jr., USC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The biggest concern here for me is that he was in Mahoning County. Theres absolutely no reason to be there for him.

- kpj chilling in his Cleveland apartment
- Ytown girl w fat ass DMs him on Instagram
- he’s not familiar w area so he brings some heat
- claps cheeks all night
- makes early morning escape
- gets pulled over for being black w too nice of a car in mahoning
- busted

Curious as to what kind of gun it is. Illegal to own a handgun if you're under 21. So if it was a handgun and he said it was his...then there may be an additional charge.

I'd have more sympathy if it was unloaded. Rules for transporting guns if you don't have a CCP can be tricky, but loaded/unloaded is pretty basic.

For obvious reasons, can someone please explain to an international what the big deal is with Mahoning County? An insalubrious area, I’m guessing?

Youngstown, about halfway between Cleveland and Pittsburgh on a relatively straight line. Known for organized crime in its hayday, once re-elected to Congess a man who was serving time in prison, pretty much everything was boarded up and everyone moved on when the steel industry died. Now just a place to pass quickly through, (maybe with a loaded piece handy).

Don't know about you guys, but this is very concerning to me. KPJ has also been putting out some strange posts on social media.
Is he looking like a guy you can depend on?

Ya as much as I want to cut him slack this is really worrisome. I guess having a loaded gun in your car is just totally normal to a lot of people but I’m not sure it makes a ton of sense for a 20 year old NBA player. Especially considering his personality. He reminds me so much of Artest. Just strong, unique personalities that have potential to be either really positive or negative.

He is starting to give me a young Ron Artest vibes... Good person, but just troubled and have demons... will need to learn things the hard way... The organization can only do so much, at the end it depends on the person and the right time, hopefully that time would be with the Cavs...

This covid shutdown is probably worse on a young guy like KPJ. I mean if the season had started as usual around Halloween this incident likely doesn't happen.

I want to like him, and he has some nice skills. But you can tell he's got a short fuse from some in game actions and just in general. I don't think we can count on him being ready to play for various stretches because he'll always have some issue going on.

No, he isn't looking like that guy and there were maturity concerns coming out of college. Where theres smoke, there's fire, and we're looking at it.

I'm not convinced KPJ is the future of this team. He's talented, but he isn't the second coming of Harden and videos of him destroying midgets 1-on-1 in the offseason don't mean much to me. I wouldn't let his presence dictate my draft plans.

Unless the law has changed it's not illegal in Ohio to own a handgun if you're under 21.

Didn't mean any offense. Was responding to someone who asked why people might have a negative reaction to Mahoning County.
