Cleveland Browns 2020 Regular Season: What a Ride!

Welcome back.

Looks to me like Teller may have mastered the "inside grab". He keeps his arms inside, grabs a fistful of jersey on his opponent's chest, and then uses that leverage to twist the guy he is blocking, using the guy's own strength against him as he fights to get closer to the ball. It throws the guy off balance, and Teller then rotates and pancakes the guy. Because it all happens inside the pads without arms extended, the refs don't call it. It looks like the DL is complaining about it after the play, but he's not getting any sympathy.

Teller seems to do it fairly often, and it works. You have to be immensely strong in both upper and lower body to generate the torque necessary to twist an NFL player, though. Also good feet and balance to be able to pick the moment when to let the DL's own strength move him in the right direction as you twist.

Sounds like he came down with a hard case of bengalitis - can't blame the guy.

Anyone know the process now? I think it was said there were 2 other teams that put a claim on him (including the Browns). Does the waiver process start again, or does he go to the next team that originally put in a claim?

He goes back through the waivers system..

Raiders and 49ers were other teams said to put in claims, and 49ers said they would put in another, likely meaning Browns wouldn't be able to snag him second time around...

Talk about a rapid fall from grace. Dude was the leading MVP candidate before he tore his ACL in that game against the Rams three years ago.

Lets hope he has plenty more turnover worthy plays on Sunday.

If we beat the Eagles we’re in good shape. Ravens and Titans play each other, so that’s one wildcard with a loss. Colts play the Packers - tough game. Raiders play the Chiefs - tough game.

It's almost like football is a team sport and if you just look at stats without accounting for the situation the player is in, you're missing the majority of the picture.

This could be really interesting, because I'm guessing analytics would tell you not to spend that much on an interior lineman, and we do have a lot of analytics guys in the organization. But who knows? @Jordan

Teller is just such a freaking beast....

It depends on what "analytics" you go by. For example, I know PFF (at least last time I checked) stupidly overvalued WR's.

But, I'm willing to bet there are a lot of analytic models out there that say the interior offensive line is undervalued, and has a high amount of impact on both the run and pass games.

Personally? I think an elite interior offensive line is the second most important position on offense after QB.

Oof.

I just don't know where you go with analytics in football. Every model is so different and you can spin the data so many ways to make it look like a position is more important than others. It's all just so situational.

When you have an elite talent anywhere. You sign them. I stand by that.
