FWIW, I would have taken Okongwu who went to Atlanta with the next pick. I will be following his career to see if I was right or wrong in preferring him to Okoro.

Klay Thompson is done for the year. He'll be 31 in Feb. Wow. He'll collect $32.7 million to rehab this year.

Curry is 32 and Green 30. Marquese Chriss is their starting center although Wiseman will obviously be getting some burn. Their starting lineup is probably Wiseman, Draymond Green, Wiggins, D'Angelo Russell, and Curry. They'll score some points.

Don't think DAR is there anymore my guy. Had to give up someone to get Wiggins

Russell? How do you think they got Wiggins?

^@Wham Insert Oubre and take out DLO from that GS lineup.

I would have taken Haliburton (6’7 PG) who can score, pass, rebound and guard three positions!

I thought Halliburton was about 6'5" and maybe a buck seventy five? Nice two-way player, and I'd much rather have him than Garland. But guarding 1-3...he'd have gotten slaughtered by NBA 3's.

They said Haliburton is now up to 187. Zack Lowe also said that Haliburton's people made it known he wanted to go to Sacramento and somehow swayed teams not to take him, which is the reason why he fell to 12.

Okoro is a good passer. Exhibit A. Working from the block. Sets up his teammate perfectly for a 3. No good. No assist.

He is a really good passer. He is very smart with the ball and actions right away. There are many occasions where he made such a great pass but did not get the assist. He is going to find Sexton, Garland, KPJ, Love, etc. but he can also finish strong too if necessary.

Just to sum up Koby's comments:

  • "The shot's not broken" but he will "have to get comfortable with the catch-and-shoot
This is very true. Just got to fix his mechanics and be consistent with his body motion and feet. No more slight fading and legs cross when landing.

I really like The Stepien's breakdown of Okoro. Their basic view is that, at worst, he will be an energy guy that is a high-level on-ball defender. At best, they see a prime Iguodala-type with slightly worse playmaking.

Some key points:

-"Strong shot IQ – really knows how to play to his strengths. ~51% of his shots come in the paint, only 33% on jumpers, 7% on runners, and 9% on postups (where he is effective using strength / touch against mismatches)."

-"Shot location from jumpers is really good for his role and for the modern NBA. He knows he’s not someone who can really create off the bounce for himself, so only 6% of the jumpers are off the bounce – as mentioned above, he does a nice job creating some space on stepbacks (and keeping balance with a fluid transition from space creation into his jumper), but it’s not something he will likely go to often. In terms of how his jumper locations fit in the modern NBA, 93% of his jumpers come from 3 – and given his role will likely be a 3/D wing who can attack off the catch (D&K, finish, etc) off the ball, the shot locations fit perfectly to that role. Does a nice job drawing fouls – .498 FTr, 3.625 fouls drawn per game."

-"Auburn really did not run many PnRs with Okoro as the ballhandler, so there is a limited sample size…but he did a nice job splitting his reps between passing and looking to score. 49 total possessions, 26 scoring attempts and 23 passes."

-"Good PnR passer – should have been used as a creator more at Auburn, but showed really nice ability when he did run it. Not comfortable hitting the roll guy with pocket passes, but can see the full court and hit all other areas – 17/23 passes were to spot ups (all over the perimeter), 4 to cutters, and 2 to the roll (only 1 was an actual roll, which was a really nice look…the other pass was a pop). Flashed live-action passes to cutters, opposite wings, etc."

-They also tend to think he has a really good handle and was underutilized as a playmaker at Auburn. He has a lot of potential in this area, for them, and may emerge as a secondary facilitator because of his ability to drive-and-kick.

-Defensively, their concerns are that his wingspan will limit his ability to be a "rim protector" and to interrupt passing lanes. They also are concerned about his footwork in the pick-and-roll. Overall, though, they see an elite isolation defender that is good at interrupting shots on closeouts and good positional versatility.

If I’ve read those stats correctly he’s actually a good off dribble shooter just never takes them? So a very small sample size

Here are some cliffnotes from Fedor's podcast yesterday

The organization values in-person workouts heavily. If,they haven't seen you workout they most likely won't draft you. The only players they saw were Okoro,Toppin, Deni & Okongwu.

Fedor said Okoro impressed them alot during the workout .Afterwards, took him to dinner and asked simple questions like:What he like,What he doesn't like,What are his hobbies and etc. After, they were done with dinner Okoro decides to workout again on Auburn's campus.

Tuesday night when the front office was leaving from the practice facility around 10pm,Sexton was coming in to workout.

Fedor said having Okoro will help Sexton,KPJ and Windler become a better player. He told a quick story, how Kyrie hated playing against Dellavedova because how good he played on defense. He believes that helped Kyrie to become a better player.

He also said that KPJ did extremely well during the season because he was on a strict schedule from the team. He believes the time off probably played a role in those two incidents.

He also said people need to stop putting Okoro in a box. Yes,he needs to improve his shot but says there's more than one way to score. He believes this probably the reason, why Sexton catch alot of hate from the media and fans.

Says that Okoro,Deni, and Toppin were in the same tier but believes Okoro has less problems than the other two. Believes,it would be a major project for anyone to fix Toppin's defense and Deni doesn't do anything great to justify taking him at 5. He believes Deni was the odd man out. You can justify taking Toppin for his offense, you can justify taking Okoro for his defense but not Deni.

Believes, the Cavs can fix Okoro's shot. Says his shot isn't that bad but needs tweaking though. Fedor said how the organization fixed Cedi,Sexton and Nance shot.

Believes Okoro can be an impact player for the team.

As,for the starting job,he believes Cedi will start but ultimately Okoro will take the starting job. Doesn't want to rush Okoro.

Like, many people said Okoro doesn't need the ball in his hands to be an impact player.
