I thought that creating a thread that would allow us to talk about everything post draft related would be a good thing.

who do you think is going to bust, or succeed? who's going to prove to be a steal? Who's going to look better than expected in some areas, but worse in others?

So to start the covnersation, I think Okongwu is going to look better offensively than defensively. I don't think he is that good defensively at the NBA level.

- I don't think he is a strong post defender. Gives up position, can get pushed around around by stronger big man. Doesn't have the elite length to contest that well.
- I think he has some weaknesses defending the PnR. Isn't quick to recover, not the best as far as positional awareness is concerned. Good, but not an elite defender on the perimeter(still a + of his, but not something that will set him apart).
-On the defensive boards can get pushed around by bigger guys for position. Still fights hard, but may not be enough until he gets stronger.

Offensively he has some stuff going for him.

+elite touch from close range. May not have a full arsenal of moves, but does have the ability to score with either hand and has some quick counter moves as well.
+quick leaper from the weakside and PnR.
+Relentless offensive rebounder. Good timing, positioning and willingness to rebound.
+Some ability to attack off the dribble. I think it will show eventually in the NBA.
+Good rim runner with good hands.
+Good FT shooter. May prove to have a reliable mid range in time.

To me Okongwu is more John Collins than Bam Adebayo. Adebayo was stronger and more explosive. Wider shoulders and had stronger core.

Not sure I LOVE this selection by the Hawks when you consider their log jam at C.

BEST PICK- Isaac Okoro (ok, maybe I’m biased)

MOST LIKELY BUST- Deni Avidja

BIGGEST STEAL- Haliburton at #12 & Precious Achiuwa at #20

BIGGEST REACH- Patrick Williams at #4 & Jalen Smith at #10

SLEEPER PICK- Cole Anthony at #15

Okoro a bust?! I’m curious why you think that? I’ll always take my chances with a hard worker and grinder, like Okoro, who is in the mold of Collin Sexton. With his build, athleticism, and work ethic, I’d be very surprised if he’s a bust.

I agree on Carey. He’s real good value at #32 and he has a chance to be a quality NBA center. Just a year ago, both he and Cole Anthony were being projected as high first round picks.

Best Pick - Deni Avidja
Most Likely Bust - LaMelo Ball
Biggest Reach - Patrick Williams
Biggest Steal - Cole Anthony
Sleeper Pick - Desmond Bane or Xavier Tillman

I agree with you except for the biggest bust I think Edwards or Ball will be a bust. One of them or both,Edwards sounds like he doesn't have the drive for it and Ball will probably be in the league a little longer but won't improve his game.

I maybe wrong about those two though..

Any reason why people think Cole Anthony is a steal? he had a miserable season.

I'm with you on LaMelo and perhaps Deni. Don't know about the best pick, but he is a good pick nonetheless.

Just a feeling. I believe in Anthonys talent. College isn't for everyone. He admitted he was never happy at UNC. Being depressed could have effected his play.

He was injured at UNC, played through the injury, and it really hurt his stock. Good talent, size, and pedigree as a PG. I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of folks.

BEST PICK- Lamelo Ball

MOST LIKELY BUST- Anthony Edwards

BIGGEST STEAL- Killian Hayes

BIGGEST REACH- Patrick Williams

SLEEPER PICK- Daniel Oturu

Best Pick - Okoro, Vassell, Avidja
Most Likely Bust - Lamelo, Patrick Williams
Biggest Steal - Hayes, Haliburton, Reggie Perry, Tillman, most of the late 2nd round
Biggest Reach - Smith, Carney, Azubuike, Quickley
Sleepers - Poku, Maxey, Terry

In general, the bad picks were mostly centers being taken way too early. Not sure why teams are trying to draft dinosaurs in the modern era but I am glad the Cavs are not one of those teams.

Edwards has the worst bust potential. Got be the one of the worst shooting guards ever taken #1

Jalen Smith was a bigger reach than Patrick Williams to me . Williams deserved to go in the top 10 Smith did not.

Most deserving of slipping Deni
Least deserving of slipping Haliburton
Best fit Devin Vassell Spurs getting him is like his best situation possible

Quite the opposite for me. Jalen Smith deserved to go in the top 10, or at least ahead of Williams. He may be a reach considering who went after him, but the dude had a great college season and projects well as an all-around big.

@cabs you must have misunderstood my post. I have LaMelo as a high bust potential :chuckle:

BEST PICK- Xavier Tillman. Really sets great picks.

MOST LIKELY BUST- Obi Toppin. Naturally huge chest that will only get bigger on an NBA training regimen.

BIGGEST STEAL- Haliburton. 2.5 per game in college, and should continue to get plenty of steals in the NBA.

BIGGEST REACH- Definitely Wiseman. Gotta be a 9'4", 9'5" reach.

SLEEPER PICK- Marko Simonovic. So good at setting picks he could do it in his sleep.
