2020 College Football Season

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As a substitute kicker who literally ran off the field after kicking it so nobody would try to block her, she had no business telling her publicity stunt teammates have been banging heads for months what it takes to win football games. Really, cheering every single fucking play like an 8th grade girls' volleyball team is "how you win football games??"

Completely ridiculous.
well unlike the rest of the team on the field, at least she has had some god damn success at the college level.

Also generally a goal keeper is the leader of the team. So yeah she was just doing what she is used to, which is trying to get her team to play harder.

It wasn't her team, or even her sport. She apparently forgot both those things while lecturing the guys whose team it actually was.

A substitute placekicker is about as far from being the leader of a football team as you can possibly get. A male soccer player who did that same thing in those same circumstances would be getting blasted mercilessly. And if he had the temerity to do that to a women's team, I don't think we'd ever hear the end of how it was the worst example of "mansplaining" ever. But regardless of gender, a susbstitute placekicker who only joined the team that late in the season would have to be utterly tone deaf to do what she did.

Also, "her" team lost 41-0, so if she's the leader, she's a demonstrably shitty one.

Cheering for your team and trying to get your teammates pumped is universal no matter what sport you play. It doesnt matter if you are a one time player or not you are still going to do anythign you can to try and get your teammates engaged and playing better

The fact that anyone thinks this is controversial is just astounding to me.

good for her. She stepped up, tried to cheer on her team, and tried to lead (on a team that clearly sucks dick). If I was on that vandy team i would be fucking embarrased I was called out like that, and they should be.

Lol no you wouldn't.

I've been on teams. No one wants to hear from the brand new person who hasn't played a single snap, hasn't taken one hit, and hasn't endured a single practice. No one.

i too have been on teams.....

and you're right not a single person on that sideline wanted to hear her

but that doesnt mean she was wrong.

If the regular kicker would have done the same thing the guys that actually play football would have told him to sit down and shut the fuck up.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with her cheering for the team.

There is something very wrong with her chewing out everyone else on the team, and telling them the reason they're not champions is because they didn't cheer on every play, good or bad.

Not only had she not earned the right to speak to them like that, but what she said is simply stupid: Nobody in college football cheers wildly on every single play.

did she chew anyone out? Did i miss that? Did she say the reason their not champions is because they dont cheer on their own team? Because i havent read or seen where she did that. Was she actively cheering every single play? Because all of these things seem like huge stretches you have taken from the actual story. Of a teammate trying to get her team to play better.

Did she go too far in the post game comments, maybe. But thats a totally different story.

Hey, that’s SEC player of the week kicker to you! :chuckle:

“My main thing was during the SEC tournament, my entire team was cheering the entire time. It didn’t matter if we were in the locker room or if they were on the sidelines, I think that’s what won it for us. Everybody was cheering non-stop. I just went in there, and I said exactly what I was thinking. I was like, ‘We need to be cheering each other on. This is how you win games.

Also worth noting that she is comparing how her team behaved during a tournament in which they won a national championship to a football team struggling through an 0-8 season. Just completely tone deaf.

This is a good time to point out there are actual differences between how men and women think.

It seems that women like to be encouraged, even when doing poorly. I always see them cheer each other on no matter how shitty its going.

Admirable. Maybe it's even the correct attitude to have, I dunno.

Men are not wired this way. If we're getting our fucking asses kicked i really and truly do not want to hear one of my teammates out there clapping and cheering because we got a single first down. Just not the mood I'm in.

On another note, one of the greatest ever is reaching the end.

Bobby Bowden has an unspecified terminal condition.

Beat Covid last October at age 91, probably one of the most notable at that age bracket to do so.

I started watching CFB in the early 90s. Of my era, I think he's the 3rd best coach, behind only Saban and Urbs. Bobby Bowden is a mfing legend.
