2020 Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Seems harder to get to 90 than say 75-85. Is there anyone that shoots 90% that isn't a "pure shooter"?

Kind of a Chicken/Egg argument right? One of the definitions of a "Pure" shooter is they shoot at or near 90% from the line. Here are the guys at 89.9 or higher from last year

Wannamaker
Booker
Duncan Robinson
CP3
Bogdanovic
Middleton
Galllinari

That's it, not sure all are pure shooters. Booker, takes some bad shots, Wannamker probably doesn't shoot enough so might be a one off, CP3 is a good shooter, but known more for other areas of his game, the others I think of as pure shooters personally, so about half?

As it stands right now, because of his low attempts, an extra 16 FTs a season would put him at 90%. I don't really see a reason he couldn't pull it off.

Yeah its a good point. Not all pure shooters, but a lot of those guys are pull up shooters off the dribble.

7 guys out of 450 or so players is not a lot. Shooting 90% from the line is harder than being an allstar apparently. I appreciate that he is going for it.

If speaking means the Rockets called the Cavs, to see if they had any interest in Westbrook, and the Cavs politely declined then, sure, I suppose they ‘spoke.’
Probably more like: Koby..U have a minute..regarding Russ Westbrook..oh wait we have someone on hold..it's Washington..call ya back...:biggrin new:

Looking at semi-updated salary of teams and there are a lot of teams who are over the tax line or close to it. It has the cavs as ranked 17th with 126.5. but not sure if a couple of players are accurate as it shows Maker under contract at 1.7m and Bolton at 1.4m Other than those two looks accurate. So the cavs look like they are 7 to 9m under tax line.

Any how looks many teams with crushed dreams at trade deadline will be looking to dump salaries after spending like drunken sailors.

this one is more accurate I think

I agree that Sexton and Drummond should "start fast" for the reasons cited. I don't agree on his third choice, Dylan Windler. This kid has not played competitive basketball in about 20 months and then he was playing at Belmont - not exactly the pinnnacle of college basketball. They play schools like Kennesaw State, Evansville, Samford, and Lipscomb. I haven't noticed those schools sending too many players to the NBA. I think Windler is going to have an eye-opening experience this season and he'll be third on the depth chart behind Okoro and Cedi.

By the way, I'm sure Cedi didn't fail to notice that the Cavs drafted a small forward in the first round each of the last two seasons in addition to having Larry Nance Jr drop down to the 3 with much success at the end of last season. He knows his job and his minutes are in jeopardy so I expect he'll come in with a lot of intensity.

Having three first round picks last year (Garland, Windler, Porter) plus Okoro this year plus the trade for Drummond has really added a lot of depth to this team despite the losses of Clarkson and TT. Picking up Dotson and McGee adds to it. We really have a lot of legitimate NBA talent on this team when you add Love, Nance, and Sexton to Drummond and the four first round picks the last two years.

10 is tough - figure Drummond, Love, Nance and McGee are 4, then Sexton, Garland, Porter, Osman, Okoro, and Windler make 10. No room for regular minutes for Exum? Or Dotson? Not to mention Maker. Gonna be tough

I agree with him on Windler. Two huge things in his favor 1) he was a 4 year player in college, which means his game is much more refined than is the typical rookies, and 2) He has a demonstrated NBA-level skill that translates -- the ability to hit the 3 ball, and to get his shot off. He's especially good coming off screens. Teams always find minutes for guys who can shoot like that.

His college competition admittedly was not the greatest. But against Maryland in the tournament -- his last college game -- he went off for 35 points and 11 rebounds. That is not a guy who was bothered at all by a step up in competition. Now maybe he just got hot...but 11 rebounds is impressive as hell against a larger, stronger team.
