Sinclair's direct to consumer idea is dead in the water before it ever happens. Betting the price will be at minimum $30 a month for access to 1 fucking channel (2 if you're in Ohio). Bank on them overpricing it and it dying within a year. I may or may not have been privy to what they were asking for when all the streamers dropped them. If they think they're gonna get that value on direct to consumer, it's going to be outlandish priced.
I agree that if it's $30 then they are dead in the water. I have to think it will lineup with what league pass charges for one team at $17.99 a month. I actually think it makes more sense to just incorporate it into league pass but apparently the Bally's deal is to incorporate sports betting into the app. My guess that is how they have figured out how to regain some of the lost revenue to make it affordable to consumers.
I don't think RNS's will be a viable part of sports leagues models going forward. They just have to ride out these current contracts and rework their model. I think we will see sports on a wider variety of networks and at more times. My guess is they will try to make league pass the option of choice for the people that are a level above a casual fan.
