Just checking out his game. This is one of his full game highlights where it shows all the plays he was involved in and includes his misses.

The thing that really sticks out is how involved he is all the time. He just sticks his nose in and that's why Bickerstaff and Larry have said he has such a good nose for the ball.

His passing is like really good. He prob got 3-5 assists at most, but he made 12 really good passes or so. 4 his teammates got stripped not protecting the ball when they were in scoring position and then another few are wide open 3s he got his teammates that they couldn't knock down. He doesn't just move the ball, he moves it to the open man. He knows when he sees 2 defenders that a guy is open and he knows where they are. He's not a creator exactly, but he has very good vision on the floor, and can be a secondary creator especially off the threat of his drive. He's open sometimes too, but he still finds the more open guy. That is pretty high level stuff. He makes those passes fast with quick decisions. If Cedi or Sexton were making those kinds of reads, we would be talking about them differently.

He seems to have a very good spatial awareness on the court. Drawing charges etc. The thing that makes me think he is going to be really good is that he has more awareness than anyone on the floor, he knows where guys are going to be. Delly immediately springs to mind in terms of him seeing something before it happens, or dare I mention Lebron? Just being a step ahead of his competition and really thinking the game quickly. Delly needs that to stay in the league, but coupled with great athleticism it could be a super power.

The activity is great. I think with a better system and especially with him not necessarily being the best guy on the floor he could really thrive. He's going to get to the basket more with NBA spacing and he is going to get more assists with guys who can actually hit a wide open 3.

I’m going to say he is going to be a 1000 fold better impact than Carrick Felix who was supposed to have a great defensive presence LOL!!!

Wasn't Andrew Wiggins expected to be a good defender before the draft? I have to admit he's been a very consistent defender - consistently bad. His DRtg is between 113 and 115 all six seasons he's been in the NBA. His Defensive Box +/- has been negative all six seasons as well.

Wiggins was not a good defender in college, but everyone said "Hey, he has the tools". Not unlike saying Sexton was going to be a good defender without it showing up in the stats.

JB is a defensive coach. I hope he can do something for the team and the team buys in.

Wiggins is in the category of being athletic of enough of being anything he wants to be but he doesn't have the same level as want to be as the best of the best.

Guys like Okoro and Sexton are more likely to maximize their potential.

What excites me the most about Isaac Okoro's potential is the fact that there are highlight videos of him showing his offensive repertoire, when in fact his best attribute is his defense.

Isaac Okoro will be the next Kawhi Leonard. Mark my words.

Edit: His shooting form looks fantastic, & that's before he worked on it & claimed it's a B+ or an A. I can't wait to see him on the court.

Hate these kind of posts. Chill man.

It’s okay for people to get excited and carried away as long as they have patience. Remember these are 19 year old kids playing vs grown men. They are not going to be all stars from day one ( minus generational talents) I have said this a ton but I think Lebron and Irving really skewed how to look at and evaluate a 19 year old rookie. People were on Garland last year as if he was 23 and in his third or fourth season in the NBA when he basically came straight from HS.

Okoro is going to have some bad nights on offense, but you just hope you see steady progress by the end of the season. Don’t get caught up in scoring averages.

The kids from Denver were not dominating the league thier rookie years. Now some guys are going to be flops, that is the reality of half to 66 percent of the first round picks in the NBA. But don’t get down if Okoro looks lost on offense early on. Does not mean he is a bust.

The issue I have is when he says: "The next Kawhi Leonard. Mark my words." I mean...

I almost don't want him to turn into Kawhi Leonard now.

I think he meant to say that prime Kawhi will pale in comparison to rookie Okoro. Even Paul Pierce will take notice.

I understand why he doesn't want him to turn into Kawhi, because that would mean he is a bust. We are talking about the GOAT here.

Mark my words

Now this prediction i'm okay with.

Okoro's awareness of when to make the pass is impressive. That is an innate ability that could translate very well.

Yeah that is something that is very exciting to me, the passes are really good and he puts them on target. The thing I would say about young players is most often the double team is what can really throw them. Kyrie used to dribble himself down into the corner and then not have any good outlet. The pass would come way too late. It is something that Sexton still struggles with when he gets too deep and doesn't have a backup plan. Getting rid of the ball late really increases turnovers.

The thing with Okoro is that he seems to avoid those trap situations, anticipates and finds the open man so he isn't taking crazy shots at the rim against 3 guys. It's an advanced read, and he passes while the defense is still not set. If you pass after that, you just have to bring the ball out anyway and start over. That's a read and something you would expect from a good pg. It also says something about his efficiency at the rim. That good team ball.

Also if you look at the game I posted he made a ton of passes and his teammates blew their opportunities. NBA players should be better able to take advantage of those looks.
