I read that Favreau wants the Mandalorian and it's spins offs to be like Game of Thrones. Where all the characters go off on their own and come back at the end to fight.
I've seen alot of speculation that Book of Boba Fett will be season 3 of the Mandalorian. I don't think that means the end of Mando's story or Boba Fett taking over the series. I think either we will see the stories under the Mandalorian umbrella grouped together somehow.
I'm guessing Mando's story is linked to Bo-Kotan and trying to take back Mandalore for at least a season or two. He has the Darksaber and basically agrees to help Bo-Kotan once his quest with Baby Yoda is over.
