2021 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Have to quietly mention that Mobley's profile isn't really looking that impressive at this stage. Only thing he's doing at an above-average level is shot blocking.

Huge game for Mobley today, making me eat my words. Ayayi on course for a perfect triple double (no missed field goals, no turnovers) which has to be a pretty rare feat.

Oregon's Chris Duarte may be a guy to keep an eye on as an instant-impact roleplayer type. Good positional size for a SG at 6'6", leading the P12 in 3's and steals, and doesn't turn the ball over.

I know he ended up missing a couple of shots toward the end, but speaking of rare, that was the first triple-double in the history of Gonzaga basketball

Cade with a pretty big 1st half against Kansas. Second half underway

Michigan is obliterating Wisconsin. Wow.

Just saw some of Diabate’s film hit. Sheesh. If Dickinson stays, I’m not even sure teams will score 50 points a game against that front line.

Been really impressive to see what Howard has done there. And they are about to get a ridiculous injection of talent next year.

Wagner was really good again tonight. Curious to see if he gets a little momentum here in NBA circles.

I have a feeling people will buy into Wagner fairly quickly since his brother ended up being a quality pro

Shades of the WVU game for Cade and Oklahoma State. Let's see if they can finish the job this time.

EDIT: They get the win, but still a pretty weak showing by Cade down the stretch with no points or assists in the last 10 minutes. He again relied heavily on his jumper and his floater, and when he's hitting those shots he's very good, but when he's not there's no plan B and he just fades into the background.

One semi weird thing happening at the top of this draft is there aren't really any outlier or plus scorers. Bouknight is really the only one but he's more considered a back end of the lottery guy.

I like Suggs / Mobley / Cade......but it is starting to feel like a year where there will be a lot of weird draft results. Where I think the best players will be sprinkled all over. This is still a very good draft.......but even Suggs is kind of landing in this really weird area for a PG......where he's not really an elite AST generator and he's also a somewhat average scorer on a possession basis. I still like him a lot but he doesn't quite look like the runaway top player anymore. Will be interested to see how that evolves.

@Nathan S my stuff sees JJJ as kind of the Thybulle like guy of this class. Where he does kind of everything but score.....but does those non scoring things so well, he seems valuable. I really know nothing about him though, other than having just pulled his possession data down. :chuckle:

From a pure scoring standpoint, my draft rater likes Cameron Thomas and Moses Moody quite a lot. It also sees Greg Brown as a high-ceiling scorer, though his remarkably bad 1:28 assist:TO ratio massacres his offensive projection overall.

If we do better than expected this year Wagner may not be a bad fit

I think the team with Suggs would be absolutely bonkers. He would fit so well in what we are trying to do defensively. He would be able to generate so many steals and run, run, run.

Offensively, it would be too much speed and athleticism to contain. Would result in a lot of defensive breakdowns for the other team and easy kickouts and lobs to Allen.

Though, we also gotta factor in the fact that he is playing with the best spacing in college in like..ever? and the team surrounding him looks like a legit nba team -- construction wise and perhaps even skill wise. Though, that may help his efficiency, but may take away from his scoring volume as he doesn't really need to do too much. So it goes both ways.

If we decide to select Suggs, we will have to make a decision on Garland...most likely.

It's between Mobley and Suggs for me for different reasons, but so far it doesn't look like we will be in a position to select either.

Totally forgot about Green. He looks like a friggin explosive slasher. He should be in the conversation as well. Just waiting for some footage.

I'm still pretty comfortably in camp Cade at this point. I think the addition of a big playmaker on the wing who is also a scoring threat with the ball would really help the team exponentially and defensively I think he's looked more than capable in terms of physicality and smarts.

Like with Suggs, drafting Cade would also mean having to make a decision with regards to Garland, because you don't draft the type of passer/ballhandler and not make him the primary initiator on offense, but Cade at the 3 allows Sexton and Okoro to slide down to the 1 and 2, which makes the backcourt size issues much more manageable. To be clear, me having Cade as my #1 is not just down to circumstances pertaining to fit, because I still think his skillset and production is tremendously impressive in itself. It's just that adding him also happens to address some very specific needs with regards to the Cavs.

Watching Cedi play against the knicks it made me think of what Cade Cunningham might look like in the NBA. He's not got that ability to blow past a guy one on one but he will be a complete terror in the DHO PNR motion game. I think if his shooting is elite then he will walk to 15-20ppg 6rp and 8apg as a rookie
