2020-2021 Cavs Season General Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Right now, I think this current group looks closer to maxing out as Portland.

They could max out as Portland offensively, but the Blazers never had defensive bigs like this team does. Or a lock down perimeter defender like Okoro. It's like they're trying to do what Portland should have done.

Early too, but the potential for Sexton and Garland on defense looks pretty solid now as well.

Is there any viable trade with Portland centered with Drummond/KPJ?

They might need both with Nurkic and CJ out... Just not sure how to make the salaries work and at the same time get back something with a little value....

Hassan Whiteside was a pretty good interior defender, and about as maddening as Drummond.

Was just thinking, this might well be the high point of the season (who even knows how much more season there is), but damn is it sweet! And it’s already a LOT more than we had any right to hope for.

The Cavs haven't been able to put together a half-way decent franchise outside of LeBron for decades.

People worried that we might max out as Utah? God I hope we become as stable and successful as Utah, year after year.

I think Garland is going to struggle against the Nets in the rematch. There’s no where to hide him and he could be rusty.
I am not saying it because he sucks. I am saying it so that we all have calibrated expectations and I hope we are all blown away again.

Yeah this is a tough matchup. I am not sure who you put him on. I guess you put him on Harris or Irving and pray for the best.

I really like the Utah comparison. Sexton/Allen as our Mitchell/Gobert

Utah or Portland should not be viewed as the ceiling... cavs still have their own picks to groom players selected in the middle of the draft, and also a salary structure that is set up to absorb contracts 3 years down the road for either retaining talent or signing a big name free agent.
