2020-2021 Cavs Season General Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I've said it before but this team is reminding me of the Cavs' teams of the 90's with Price, Daugherty, Harper, Nance, and Hot Rod. No superstars, just a bunch of above average to very good players whose talents meshed pretty well and came close to getting to the Finals a couple of times if not for a fella named Jordan.

This team has a lot more depth, however.
More depth and athleticism. I thought for as skilled as those teams were they severely lacked athleticism which made the susceptible in the playoffs.

ETA: They also lacked physicality.

Put Okoro on that team and we would have had a ring or two.

Harper couldn't slow down MJ, Okoro could have. Okoro as an Ehlo upgrade.
You’re kidding about Harper, right? Jordan said on several occasions Harper was one of toughest defenders he faced. He even said after he made “the Shot” that he was relieved when he saw they had Ehlo on him instead of Harper!

Don't really want to have this conversation, but I watched MJ torch Harper over and over and over again.
Onward to 2021.

Unless I missed something, I was looking through the Cavs schedule and do not see any games with the Bulls who are in our Division. How is this possible?

Second half of the schedule has not been released yet. They wanted to have leeway for Covid related adjustments and reschedulings

Only half the schedule has been released. The games with the Bulls are presumably part of the second half schedule.

Should be noted though that division designations don’t matter. Everyone in a conference is gonna play each other 3 times, and everyone out of conference is gonna play 2 times.

Nice. They just got Kemba back and are still a well coached team that is much physically tougher and much better defensively than the Nets, but obviously them not having Tatum makes it an easier go for the Cavs

All of this talk about “losing is corrosive” etc etc. doesn’t matter, at the end of the day, the team with the most superstar talent is winning it all. Toronto had a winning culture. Didn’t matter til they got Kawhi. And they only won with him because GSW had injuries to their superstars. Then he left and Toronto became faux contenders again.

Cavs were horrible for years with Kyrie. Until they got Prime Love and Lebron.

Is it a bad thing if we don't win it all? Prior to 2016, I think the championship meant a lot for the city, but now that we have it? I would rather have a fun, cohesive team that is competitive at a high level for a decade, is close but maybe not quite championship caliber than a 2 year window to win another title with a team that I don't enjoy watching.

Even teams like the current Blazers, Jazz, and Pacers could all win one if everything breaks correctly. Hell, Miami was within 2 wins of a title last year. If you make it to the finals, you have a chance. I want a team that can do that.

Our size is going to be a major issue for Boston who had no answer for Embiid. Tatum is a massive out and means we can put Okoro on Brown

I offered that question recently. What’s better, deep playoff runs without a ring for 5-7 years or 1 ring and mediocrity for 5-7 years?

I’d rather enjoy myself for 5-7 now that 2016 is in the bag.
