NFL Off-Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
To be fair he is older, one year left on his deal and his salary out weighs his current income, so release was the only option most likely or maybe a 7th because 17.5 doesn't match his health or production.

Watson is considered a top 5 QB locked up for years, he has huge value.

But you won't see this organization do anything to mend their broken relationship with Watson, either.

In fact, they've seemed to actively target some of his interests and relationships around the team.

You don't have to crip walk on water to see that the organization is in shambles, led by a clown ownership group that has put their faith in a pastor with no relevant experience making critical football decisions for the club.

Pretty sad state of affairs for those athletes caught up in it.

Don't disagree. I don't want to scream racism because I don't really know, but Watt was given allot more respect over the last 10 years than Watson, and one is the QB who is supposed to get the most respect because of position and we all know what the difference between the two, because neither has been anything but an upstanding citizen and neither has even sniffed any off field issues.

But I don't want to go down that route because I really don't know, I hope its not racist intentions is all I can say.

The casual racism of Easterby is certainly one problem. That definitely can't be sitting well with some of the players in that locker room, even if they've spent a lifetime of having to ignore it from others.

From a purely football perspective, Easterby's clownish behavior and complete lack of experience is probably the greater concern for the team overall. Their coaching search was a disaster from start to finish, and they even managed to make promises to the players which they never intended to keep along the way.

Can't help but wonder how Nick Caserio feels about watching this power play by Easterby unfold in real time.

Doubt Watt will be the last of the players to get his way and get the hell out of dodge.

I am not saying that it isn't there, but racism is a huge acquisition that I don't have any 1st or 2nd hand knowledge of with Easterby or the organization so I don't want to discuss it because of my ethics.

But it wouldn't shock me, and Watson and some of the other players are acting like its there.

Genuinely considering applying to play in this league.

Still under 40, down to about 198 lbs during Covid thanks to Peloton. Previously a two-time Flag Football champion QB.

The arm still works, maybe I should give it a shot to compete with the GOAT.

Definitely racism. Yes. Definitely

Back to the matter at hand. Lots of employees get pissed and are unhappy at their jobs. It’s all part of a process and just life in general. Things go up and down. Texans have been a good, playoff team most of Watsons tenure there.
The Texans have zero reason to move him. He’s (arguably) a top 5 QB In the league and as our Browns know, it can take decades to even find a good, top 12 QB.
That alone is reason not to move Watson.
And the thought of even comparing the Watt and Watson situation just shows how dumb and agenda driven this entire situation is.
The country we live in now is so dumb full of Whiny babies that when someone doesn’t get what they want or think someone isn’t treated “fairly” it’s a race or some other stupid social issue.

No, it’s plain and Fng simple. He’s a top tier QB, just signed a massive ass deal last offseason and players like him don’t grow on a GD tree.

Could you imagine if Jimmah put out a video like this after Hue or Freddie got canned?

Yeah, like, imagine if he also took advice from a homeless man on who to draft in the 1st round.

oh wait.

Yeah, an a hardcore OSU fan I’m glad Ryan Day is leading the program. Appreciate Urban for righting the ship, but yeah... awful judge of character, at best.

Urban is getting a dose of reality that he can't just do what he pleases and get away with it in the NFL.

I've been curious to see how OSU fans would view Urban now that he no longer coaches the Buckeyes. He's certainly a win-at-all-costs guy, whether that means covering up domestic abuse or hiring a racist. If he thinks it'll help football games, I'm not sure he cares.

Some fans have no problem with that mentality but others want people of character leading their teams. If you're part of the latter group you might argue Ryan Day righted the ship, not Urban.

As a Non OSU fan never felt Urban had any ethics, acted like he did, but never did. I think Ryan Day is a great coach and because of OSU's sometimes out of control alumni's you really need a coach with high ethics.

By righting the ship I meant bringing the program back to the level it was at after the Tressel situation and the one year with Fickell when they went 6-7.

It’s weird going back and reflecting on Urban’s time with OSU. You can’t say it wasn’t a success overall with the natty, dominating Michigan, the levels they recruited at, etc. Yet one can spin it that he also under achieved too. Only won one B1G championship his first 5 years there. Wasted a ton of talent and a chance to repeat in 2015 with Beck/Warriner combo as OC. Remaining loyal to a POS like Zack Smith who wasn’t even fucking good at his job. He should’ve been fired for job performance alone. In the end it led to Hartline and then eventually Day. My only concern with Day is him truly being here for the long haul, and not using this experience as a launching pad for the NFL.
