Cavaliers Fantasy Trade Thread: 2020-21 regular season edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I dont dislike this trade, but do worry if Beal would accelerate the build faster than would be beneficial. Also, I wonder if Love could be inserted instead of Drummond (using him for another deal), since he and Russ are friends? I'd feel better giving up all those picks if it meant coming off Loves long term money.
If the management wants the cavs to go to the playoffs, having Love as a 2nd/3rd option would be best. You need scoring and spacing in the playoffs and Allen is a capable big. A trio of Sexton, Beal, and Love would be a handful for opposing teams, given Love returns to form. Beal is still youngish (27 years old) with 2 years left in his contract same with Love. It will accelerate the rebuild and will give Sexton, Okoro, and Windler experience in high stakes basketball.

It will also give the Wizards an expiring in Drummond to fast track their rebuild.

I'm not sure Washington is willing to give up on Deni just yet. If anyone gets pushed away from that organization, it'll be Scott Brooks, whose offense has been putrid thus far.
Swap Deni with Hachimura

Cleveland gets: Malik Monk, Miles Bridges & Dennis Smith Jr.

Charlotte gets: Andre Drummond

New York gets: Terry Rozier

Why?

Cleveland adds a combo guard in Monk to their roster to give them more versatility. Bridges does the same.

Charlotte could use a big like Drummond.

New York could be a nice landing spot for Rozier. He could thrive there.

Whats with the DSJ obsession? I was a huge DSJ stan after I watched him beat that Duke team with Tatum and Kennard by himself, but even i will admit he has not been good as a pro. He can't get playing time behind Payton and Frankie Smokes. Why would he get any here over sexland or even Dotson? I hope he can figure it out but it sure as hell isnt happening in Cleveland

Trade #1

Cleveland gets: Aaron Gordon & Dwayne Bacon

Orlando gets: Larry Nance Jr. & Cedi Osman

Why?

Cleveland acquires a forward who can create on offense & is a solid fit next to Jarrett Allen in the frontcourt. Bacon is added to fill roster spot.

Orlando gets two role players on team friendly deals. Nance plays similar to Gordon & his salary is less. Osman has had some good games this year.

Trade #2

Cleveland gets: Gary Harris

Denver gets: Taurean Prince & Javale Mcgee

Why?

Cleveland gets a guard who could compliment Sexton & Garland very well.

Denver gets a wing who can replace Jerami Grant & on a reasonable contract. Javale is added for salary purposes but he can be flipped for assets or be kept for depth.

Saw this rumor

Washington gets Garland , Love. Nance and Allen 2021 and 2023 1sts.

Cleveland gets Beal and 2 fillers.

Would like to get Beal but giving up too much. If we could keep 2021 1st and 1 of Garland or Allen then seems like a good trade.

Drummond will be a tough sell. Few contenders have the assets to give up for Drummond. There are three good teams that can carve out a trade:

1. Kings sending us Buddy Heild for Drummond (but, why would they?)
2. Blazers doing a straight up or via Nets trade (Hood and Dinwiddie to Cavs, Nurkic to Nets, Drummond to Blazers. Cavs get some picks)

Other than for those teams, I think OKC can unload Horford and pick(s) for expiring Drummond. That's possible, but not very probable. There are other fringe salary-dump candidates like Tobias Harris, Eric Gordon, Gary Harris etc, depending on which way those teams want to go.

I expect McGee to be traded soon - but the Cavs have to set the expectations right.

I think, at this point, no one on the Cavs' roster in untouchable. We are lottery-bound - another 2021 unprotected first round pick would be great.

I would lose my mind if we pulled that off. Also, Philly won't be moving Simmons as they are the number one seed in the east right now.
Philly wont go far in the playoffs with Simmons. They have to maximize Embiid by surrounding him with shooters. Beal to sixers makes too much sense. Wizards can start another rebuild and the cavs could replace love with drummond if they want an expiring. Simmons will make Sexton better and he can be the bonafide star in Cleveland desperately needs.
Sexton/Okoro/Simmons/Love/Allen is a balanced team with defensive length and shooting to augment simmons playmaking.

Adding the recent rumors:

1. James Johnson, Dwight Powell and some pick for Drummond. We'll have a third of all the big men in NBA. :falloff:
2. Norman Powell and/or Lowry for Drummond (this might be interesting to see how the teams balance the salary)

On top of either of the above Drummond-trades, a 3-team trade for Love can be orchestrated: Hood and Dinwiddie to Cavs, Nurkic to Nets, Love to Blazers :cha (63):

You could do a 3 way deal and send Drummond to the Raptors while Lowry ends up on the Mavs. The only thing is Powell has this season plus 2 seasons left on his contract at 11 million per year. He is 29 coming off an achilles injury, it's a very bad contract.

I wonder if the Pistons would trade Jerami Grant to try to get rid of Blake Griffin's contract. Drummond could be part of the trade and move to a 3rd team.

What would you guys think about something like:

Cavs:
Carsen Edwards
Romeo Langford

Celtics:
Aaron Baynes
Norman Powell
Patrick McCaw
Stanley Johnson

Raptors:
Drummond
(Maybe a couple of seconds)

Drummond doesn’t have a ton of value so the chance to grab a guy who went in the middle of the first rounder and taking a flyer on a young guy sounds better than getting a couple 2nd rounders. Boston uses their TPE but they definitely need a spark plug and Norman can be that for them, they also get back Baynes who played well for them. The Raptors seem interested in Drummond for some reason so they’d have to give up these 4 guys unless they want to move Lowry. I’d figure giving them some draft assets would be nice since Powell does help them a ton.
