This team will be fun to watch

Lets just say that if you peruse half the thread dedicated to thoughts on trading Jose, it won't be difficult to find a dozen references to trading him now.

A lot of posts advocating for or against trading key players are totally dependent on the poster's definition of contender, and where the team presently fits in regards to that definition.

For some, and they often are in favor of trading now or soon, the only true contender is a team among the favorites to win the World Series. They aren't interested in winning a division or getting a WC.

For them, anything short of the Series is failure.

Others, and I fall into that category, view any year that the Tribe makes the post season, esp by winning the division, as a success. Anything after that is gravy.

I'm old fashion that way. As a fan of the Buckeyes, I have only two goals...beat Michigan, then win the B10. I dont even worry about anything after that until those two goals are met.

Is this team a true contender? I haven't decided yet. There are lots of encouraging signs, but some of those signs are from players I simply don't trust, as I have always put stock in track records, trends, and what I see with mine own eyes.

But, sitting on a beach right now, rum drink in hand, I'm not able to see anything. (I'm not complaining)

Most of what Bimbo has stated is very encouraging...and I am grateful. Much, not all, of what I have heard from others I trust is in agreement.

So we shall see.

But I am tending towards a more optimistic point of view than I had in January.

I am wondering, do you have Gson on ignore or something? I see you constantly making posts with "haven't seen one post,' 'there isn't a single poster' or 'no one here is saying' to multiple posters here, but if you saw Gson's posts, you would understand where they are coming from.
I don't have anyone on "ignore" and I don't recall Gson posting that Ramirez should be dealt before the AS break without the underlying circumstances that I mentioned. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with Gson, just that I don't recall him stating such. Maybe I'm mistaken.

Some people just have a real kink for trade talk. It is their thing, but that does not make them bad people.

you're not mistaken..

Mike Chernoff blew up the roster, & rightfully so. This team came close many times but kept losing to the Yankshits.

We have an amazing farm system which means plenty of young players will get an opportunity in the majors. There are so many question marks with this team moving forward because there's a youth movement going on. I love it!

It's gonna be insanely fun watching our young players try to prove themselves, led by Jose Ramirez, who is the veteran of this team & Terry Francona, one of the best managers in the business. Who will emerge as a major league quality player? There are many who could fit the bill.

This team will exceed expectations this year.
Give credit where credit is due. :chuckle:

I hadn’t seen this thread. I have to say that I don’t feel this team is all that fun to watch. It isn’t about the won/loss record either. In my view, their record is probably better than what it should be. They just play bad baseball. The defense is atrocious and in my opinion it makes watching them tough. They are a poor hitting team that takes bad approaches at the plate. They do have good pitching when healthy. But, injuries are hurting them hopefully only temporarily. There have been years where the Indians have played good ball and deserved better attendance. This year isn’t one of them.

This team is 10-1 in the game following its last eleven losses. You may consider that mediocrity; I call it tenacity.

This team may not be fun to watch because it's not clobbering teams, but for sheer on-the-edge-of-your-seat wondering how they're possibly going to survive again, well, it's hard to top the daily weirdness that accompanies this team's continuing attempt to tilt at windmills. So far, so good. And for me, the agony of this team's games--win or lose--may not be most people's idea of fun, but it sure as hell is interesting to me.

Every day your team is relevant in a baseball season is a good day.

Bobby Bradley has made this team a ton of fun to watch lately. I love watching other players like Naylor always giving 100%, Ahmed's speed always is fun to watch, Zimmer's defense is so fun, I am enjoying the season. Lots of young kids, some showing real promise now too.

There is some intrigue of the unknown. We've run into some adversity obviously, but I'm anxious to see who emerges. The fact that we're 7 games over .500 only makes it that much more interesting. It's no-lose situation IMO. If this team should falter it wouldn't be a surprise to most of us, but at the same time wondering what will happen when all of Reyes, Plesac, and Bieber return creates its own excitement. I must say it's fun to watch.

We are in a fascinating period to watch......not one where we wonder how we match up to Houston/Boston/Tampa Bay, but one wondering how and if young guys will fit the holes that we have.

And frankly, it's amazing that Tito has us in a position where we aren't 20 games below .500 while doing it.

Not to pick on you Lee, but it seems like Ahmed Rosario might be the new Mike Holmgrum among the fanbase.

Am I spelling it wrong? If that is the case, dont insult the rest of the fan base with my horrible spelling. I think many can attest to hear that I might actually be almost as well known for more horrible spelling as I am for my dad jokes. You should know that, you have been here well over 10 years, lol
