This lawyer has been in the news before, he had an issue several years ago where he couldn't get a crazy drunk lady out of his house and she was trashing paintings. He made internet news again by having a tank in his driveway.
He's won some big lawsuits, maybe it's smoke and maybe he knows he has an easy opportunity at money. Clearly isn't showing his hand to try and get Watson to settle before he discloses. Snaky but until we know the situation... I mean just a few weeks ago the governor of NY had only shown women the upmost respect st all times, too. I don't see why the Texans would sick a lawyer who is out for a settlement on him, not sure how it benefits them to devalue their own asset... whether they want him to stay or to trade him.
So let me first say that I am not accusing the Texans of doing it, as that seems markedly stupid even for them, and if they were found out it would almost certainly end with having to sell the team.
That being said, here's the angle I could see a misguided, incompetent organization like the Texans going with. Easterby is a pastor. His star QB being accused of sexual assault is the perfect excuse to trade him while maintaining a sense of moral superiority. Plus, this isn't going to tank his value unless there turns out to be evidence. I imagine most NFL GMs would see that lawyer's IG post and, like most of us, assume this is bullshit until proven otherwise.
Is that what happened? Probably not. If I were a betting man, I'd put my money on this being a lawyer looking to take a black athlete who had the gall to demand a trade from his hometown team down a peg. The language at the start of his IG post is pretty loaded and makes me feel that's his agenda here.
All that being said, despite the lawyer being a joke, this should be properly investigated, as should every sexual assault accusation. I'd be shocked if it ever goes to trial and even more shocked if Watson settles, but it still needs to be looked into.
This does, however, show the importance of hiring a good attorney. A more professional statement would have done wonders here.
