Even when they have the lead somehow, the better teams will make their adjustments and as Nance mentioned in an Athletics article, "the third quarter is where good teams create their distance going forward or plant their flag" then it's game over. I don't have a membership but I've linked the article.

the only way I see OkraSexLand working out is if they split up Garland and Sexton and pair each one with Okoro. This is assuming Okoro makes big strides by next season and Garland shows more promise and OkraSexLand merits another go around. Okoro gets to play SG because he's clearly not an SF. Garland and Sexton each get to handle the ball a lot without "taking turns" on offense and giving up big size.

There's no rotation that can prevent two players from sharing court time if they both play 30+ mins a game, but Okoro can split them up for perhaps half the game? Keeping Okoro at SG must be a priority. If it isn't, the team has to consider roster retooling because it's untenable to have Sexton, Garland, and Okoro on the floor at the same time. Especially if they draft an SF.

There's just no way they're gonna be competitive most nights from here on out w/o Allen and Nance. They just traded their only other decent big man for a nobody.

They can't overcome that type of front court deficiency. Love on a minutes restriction (and most likely a strong breeze away from getting hurt again) and Wade isn't gonna get it.

Yeah, the Gilberts realize this draft is too important not to give it our fullest ping pong effort. Then you have your decision makers issue. Do you want new ones handling that then huge decision of the ping pong going enough???

I don't understand some people they bitch and complain about the team losing but want the team to tank..That logic makes no dayum sense at all.

I don’t know if this is a direct shot at me or what...

Now, let me be very clear. We should tank.

As to the team, I think we are poorly structured and the GM clearly needs fired. He has failed with the rebuild. And because of that we should ABSOLUTELY TANK since it’s a loaded draft.

Really encouraged by Sexton the last two games.

He's getting a lot of buckets w/o dribbling into them himself. Getting to the line. Cutting constantly.

Really got into it with Jimmy BUtler in that 3rd quarter and then backed it up.

Yea, it's hard to build a good roster with a small shooting guard, but right now he clearly looks like the best bet of the three lottery picks.

Anymore questions on Suggs? Going to be a SUPERSTAR.

Depending on where we draft we TAKE HIM! Don’t care about fit

Probably won’t fall to us. We didn’t suck hard enough in the beginning of the year.

Eh, no. There are better targets. I thought Sexton played like a turd against the 76ers. Little Monta.

Hard to argue after watching last night's game. The Cavs had Okoro guarding Butler (6'7") with Garland and Sexton guarding some combination of Robinson (6'7"), Herro (6'5"), or Oladipo (6'4"). The Cavs were at a height disadvantage in every position from 1-3 the entire game when Sexton, Garland, and Okoro were on the floor at the same time.

There were times when the Cavs would switch and Garland would be guarding Butler or Robinson. Not great.

I wonder how Utah does it...

I wonder how Utah does it...

Rudy Gobert is the first part of making it work.

Conley is a really good defender for his size.

And finally, they aren't small anywhere else.

The Cavs are, at some point, gonna have to face the reality that Sexton/Garland/Okoro will never be a thing that works in the NBA. You can't have that many undersized players playing 33+ minutes a game.

If Nance could ever stay healthy, the Cavs have a shot to make something like that work.

But two issues: Allen will never be the defensive stalwart that Gobert is. BUt he can be solid.

And Garland will never, not ever, be what Conley is on defense.

So to get something like Utah has the Cavs need a good, athletic 3 who can switch and guard 1-3.

Okoro isn't gonna be that guy at small forward.

I wonder how Utah does it...
They have a perennial DPOY candidate in Gobert, Conley is an excellent defensive guard, and they put elite offensive weapons with good length on the defensive end all around them.

Joe freaking Ingles is making almost three 3's per game at a 50% clip! His TS% is .736!!! That's incredible!

O'Neal, Mitchell, Ingles, Bogdanovic, Niang, Conley, Clarkson... That's seven guys in their rotation making threes at a high volume.

Yeah, I was being a bit facetious in my "wonder how Utah does it" post...it was asked because they have a pair of 6'1" guards starting in their backcourt and a 6'4" guard as their 6th man. And they do it successfully.

Well, when one of your starters is Donovan Mitchell and your third guard is shooting over 50% on 3's you can cover a lot of defensive issues. Having Gobert swatting layups doesn't hurt, either.

A big problem for the Cavs last year was Tristan Thompson in the Rudy Gobert role.
