2021 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don’t think Gonzaga is unathletic or soft.

But Baylor top to bottom is more athletic, more physical, very skilled, very smart, and came into this game ready for an aggressive heavyweight fight.

Only way Gonzaga pulls off the miracle comeback is if Suggs just goes unconscious and Baylor completely shits the bed, and I dont see that happening with Mitchell, Butler, and Teague making the decisions on offense.

Just gonna point out that Butler and Suggs will both be 20 years old on draft night.

Does anyone think Suggs is the problem tonight? Ajaji and Kispert have been awful.

According to tankathon Butler is already 21 and 5 months.(edit: they’re wrong, but he’ll be 20 years, 11 months on draft night in July)

Kuminga on the other hand won’t even be 19 yet on draft night.

Not intended to be a jab at Suggs, just remembering that Butler is still fairly young. I'd argue that he's the most NBA-ready guard in the draft, and if you factor in the potential for some additional improvement, he starts to look like a lottery pick to me.

Suggs struggled early against the Baylor D. Baylor was so active on D, given Gonzaga no easy drives or shots. And Baylor is hard to defend, because they move the ball so well and all their guys can shoot. This Baylor team is one of the best college basketball teams I’ve ever seen. Kispert and Timme couldn’t do what they had been doing, and Ayayi wasn’t going to have another game like he had against UCLA. Suggs was the only guy athletic enough to hang with Baylor, and Gonzaga was down 20 before he even got going.

Everybody kept talking about Gonzaga, but Baylor was the real juggernaut all along.

I have a feeling Mitchell is going top 10. Dude is unguardable with his athleticism, elite first step and craftiness around the basket and shot 45% from three on 4+ attempts per game. Love his competitiveness. He’s a willing passer and just tied for the most assist in final 4 since Deron Williams (averaged 5.5 for the season). Pretty good defender from what I’ve seen so far. Mike Conley tourney run got him selected 4th overall in 2007 so anything is possible.

His teammate Butler is an absolute stud as well but he’s an inferior athlete compared to Suggs and Mitchell. Speaking of Suggs, I’m a fan despite his shooting looking alarming at times but does he look small out there? Seems like he’s had a hard time creating separation with the dribble and missed a few tough shots with Baylor’s length bothering him.

I don't think he will. I think depending on where the non-lottery teams end up, he'll be somewhere in that end of lottery 13 through 18/19.

I think Mitchell definitely won his matchup with Suggs, but I think the player who helped themselves the most tonight was Jared Butler. If he was late late FRP before, I'll bet he's creeping up into the early or mid 20's now. He created alot of his own shots from deep and looked comfortable creating those shots on any individual defenders tonight. I wasn't expecting him to create for others as much as he was able to.

He gave me Chauncey Billups with the Pistons capabilities when I saw him more as Josh Hart or Randy Foye at Villanova or Delonte at St Joes. Tough combo guard who "could" initiate but probably would be a score first undersized combo guard at the next level.

But this game, he looked like a PG in the half court. With his size and that he will still only be 20 on draft night, I'll bet he's rising more than anyone else in tonight's game. I'll bet GM's are going to want to see if he really has the floor game to be a lead guard.

Can't see Mitchell going before the 20s imo. He's 22 and 6'2", and he isn't an offensive star. He does so much aside from that, but those are a lot of red flags from a drafting perspective. Some good team that wants help right now will snap him up and I bet he'll have a small but meaningful role in year 1.

Josh Giddey is a name you need to remember.

Remember like when they try to add a second first rounder or remember as a serious look in the 4-7 range?
