Thoughts on trading Jose Ramirez

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The sooner you deal him, the better. The longer you wait, the more his value (from a on field standpoint) drops. He 'was' a top MVP vote getter. Not in this lineup. No shot. Lindor and Los helped him see pitches dramatically. Rosario.. Gamel/Luplow, Caesar won't be replacing what's lost at the top.

We need a tier 1 prospect that fits the timeline of our next generation of Cleveland Ball club players.

Trading our best away year after year sure gets discouraging. What a streak we had dealing Cy Young winners! Thank goodness we traded Bauer Before he won it. (Phew, that was close.)

Depressing market we live in. Fans don't show up, owners don't marry their talent. The guys at the top don't get enough credit because they can't keep the kids they go all in for, instead they have to keep washing, rinsing, repeating the same ol song and dance.

In order to spark this rebuild by a few years, I want to trade Jose for a top OF prospect that fits the time frame of Jones, Freeman, Naylor, Arias, Valera, while Franmil is the veteran DH guy and hopefully Bradley grows into a valuable player.

Our pitching is here to stay.

What guarantee is there that our pitching is here to stay? We have pitching now. Let's see if we can find a minority owner to inject some cash into the club. Trading Ramirez this year will not help attendance improve.

Active extension talks were taking place up until Opening Day, FWIW.

I seldom trust those reports. The Indians could seek to extend him at a price of 50 cents on the dollar and he wants 95 cents on the dollar to sign. Talking only matters if you are prepared to pay the going rate for soon to be free agents and that has not been a trend in Cleveland of late.

Our pitchers are young and are locked up until like 2025, Bieber becomes UFA.

And what makes you think some minority multi-millionaire is going to come in and shell out more cash than the actual owner?

The attendance for this season is what it is. It's going to be no different than the 9k faithful. If spending a record amount on Edwin didn't put butt's in the seats, along with the World Series roster we had, nothing will. It'll literally take the Browns being gone and the Cavs being garbage for Tribe fans to come along. Mid 90's Tribe was the absolute perfect storm for Cleveland fans.

If this team is considering a Ramirez trade at the deadline, he might not be the only one on the block. It wouldn't surprise me to see E. Rosario and Hernandez available as well. I only say that because there are replacements in house that are ready. I'm hoping that this team is doing well enough to not have the desire to move these guys.

If we are selling at the deadline Eddie Rosario's is definitely getting traded. Hernandez, maybe if there are some buyers available.

The key is they took place, but an agreement wasn't reached. If Jose wanted to get it done, he would have. If the Tribe felt they could get it done they would have.

Sometimes teams want to give fans the impression that they want to keep their free agents so they "negotiate" with them when in reality it is just for the impression. Negotiating is what the Mets did with Lindor. Lindor reportedly wanted 12 years at $30 millionish per year and the Mets offered 10 years at $30 millionish before they reached a deal. The price for Jose is going to be at a minimum $25 million+ for 8 or more years. I would be shocked if Cleveland ever put $200 million on the table.

This is only my opinion but, I really doubt any of our star players (Jose and Shane) are interested in extending their contracts with the tribe. What is the incentive to do so rather than go for it on the open market?

I think there's but one incentive in baseball, sports, and life in general: the filthy lucre!! Bring the bag or go home!

Good. I want to keep Ramirez and Bieber as long as possible. Would also send a good message after the trade bonanza.

I'd also try to extend Civale asap, while I'd go year to year and look to deal Plesac if someone is willing to overpay.

I got a funny feeling that we may never sign anyone to an extension again.
