Thoughts on trading Jose Ramirez

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
@BimboColesHair Could you make it known to Francona through back channels that leading off Ben Gamel and making him the primary CF is fucking stupid? Much appreciated.

Takeaways:

1) Again, not a single specific case brought up to justify these scorching hot takes
2) If you don't believe Bimbo, that's a you problem. I can confidently say he's telling you the truth. If you want to reject reality, that's on you.
UFB .. Reality is nothing has even been rumored by 1 sports writer that a deal is nearing done. I am not saying it cannot happen. But, just like Lindor, Tribe has their $ and Bieber has his. If you are so certain they will come to a deal, what is the general frame work $ range and years more than just hope to buy out arb years and add 2-3 years a club options?

If you or Bimbo know, please share and I will thank you.

All I am saying is what tribe has said. Finances are tight. They need to find a minority partner who can buy more to infuse cash. And, they like to keep their own but sometime $s dont work especially due to last year. So, until I see it happen, I have my doubts. And, as I said, what Bieber wants may just be more than what fits in budget. May not be as high as Lindor as Bimbo hinted but unless a deal is soon (as contract talks are sometimes halted in season) , another cy young season puts him as deserving of a big contract. Even a modest for 1 CY of $10 arb1, $15, $20, $25 club opt 1, $30 opt 2 5 year contract is $100 mill. Will go higher w repeat performance.

Or is what dolan says that money is tight (even $58 mill which needed special peemission) not the case anymore?

Why is Ben Gamel playing let alone batting leadoff...

Is Tito in some pissing match with the FO regarding some roster decisions?

Terrible.

This is very different from "the Indians might not ever sign another extension again."

I never said that but you roasted me anyway.... Remember, I said "Now, we cut back to $58 million due to the financial strain that will take "many" years to make up for the losses. Can't sign too many to $10 million plus."

And, I brought up Clevinger as he was only realistic extension possibility recently outside Bauer and Lindor. Thus, appreciate Bimbo comment on his history (knee and other).

Tribe will have a financial tightrope. And, as Bimbo said before, Tribe was trying to sign Lindor (w deferrals and such) until Covid hut which changed realm of possibilities, if i am not mistaken. Just see Bieber getting close to that ... not as greedy as lindor in wanting every $, but in my mind more deserving via pitching talent that can win WS.

Why is Tito playing veterans early in the year over young guys?

It's a good question.

To me, it's just what he does. It's what he's always done. If you like the positives he brings, like the way he manages the clubhouse, you also have to learn to live with the negatives, like this stuff, and his in-game management.

Dude, this entire discussion stems from your response to this post:

After what we did with Jose, Kluber, Cookie and the entire last generation, I truly don't understand how someone could say they don't think the Indians will extend anyone ever again.

It has been our MO to extend our young talent, betting on them early. If there's any team to bet on extending players, it's us

Multiple pages later, in response to "the Indians might not ever sign another extension" your response is "I never said that."

Next time, let's try to have a linear conversation.

I am not mad just saying why some don't believe Bimbo on Bieber till we see it.
This "I won't believe it until I see it" attitude is what's problematic. It basically means even if the Indians make a substantial behind the scenes good faith effort, you'll never believe they did! This is the problem the Indians face with fans like you. No matter what they do, you won't believe they tried unless they succeed. It's the same silly argument that unless they win a World Series, all their efforts are worthless. An ownership simply can't ever win with fans like that. It's never enough.

PAY HIM WHATEVER HE WANTS.

For his production, not as much as you'd think.

Mentioned this about Naylor in the spring, that he is real motivated to be on this team when his brother is as well.

Jose loves, and I mean LOVES, having his little brother in the same organization. Means a lot to him. Keep trying to tell everyone in here to pump the brakes on thinking its a guarantee he's moved...

Question is how much does he really want? To say he wouldn't merit at least a 3/80-90 type of contract when he becomes a free agent, is on the low end of what he may be able to get. Can we afford that?

Their big chip is the next 2 seasons aren't fully guaranteed and are team options. What is being kicked around is making those 2 years fully guaranteed and a higher figure while adding 2 or 3 years.

Should clarify.

Was, not “is”. Indians typically don’t negotiate into the regular season, haven’t heard a peep on if discussions are still taking place.
