Deshaun Watson Soap Opera

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I thought a couple of the women alleged that he rubbed his penis on them. If that’s the case, it’s not sexual harassment, it’s sexual assault and would face some jail time if convicted in a criminal case.

No I wouldn't do that in an office setting or with anyone really cause I'm not a piece of shit. Comparing the two isn't the same, in my opinion. The women all had a chance to say no. Whether it was on IG or in person. They can say no. Is he a piece of shit for putting them women in these uncomfortable positions? Yes.
But again I think this conversation started with talking about punishment not whether what he did was bad. Of course it was bad. But from a punishment perspective idk how I feel about him being punished because he was bargaining for sexual pleasure whether it was through messages on IG or laying in a towel offering a few extra bucks for a knuckle.

I don't believe most of the women were under the impression that they were going to fuck Watson. They were there to give him a massage. It's sexual harassment at minimum any way you swing it, and it sounds like in at least a few instances it went quite a bit further than that.

I'm sure Watson could find his share of girls that would happily fuck him, but he seems to get off on pressuring female masseuses into it.

Do you think it's okay to turn to a woman in your office and ask her to finger your butthole?

What makes this any different?

It's sexual harassment. It may not be illegal, but it's unwanted behavior and the league should take a stance against it. Playing in the NFL is a privilege. Be better.

Forcing them is rape. Nobody is saying (I don't think?) that Watson raped these women.

Just letting you know, "A perv trying to get his jollies" sounds like you're just dismissing sexual harassment as "boys will be boys."

Of course, with the history of the NFL, pretending there's any sort of morality is a joke. Kraft and Ray Lewis say hello.

I get what you're saying and I agree with it, but I also look at things similar to Lee where the severity of the behavior is important. Is pressuring women into these acts, whether consensual or not, okay? No, I don't think it is. Especially since you could make a pretty good argument that even the consensual exchanges for money weren't really consensual because of the power dynamic in play.

But I also think unless something comes out that is way worse than what we know at the moment, he's playing again in the NFL if he chooses to and probably making boatloads of money to do it. There is so much precedent of the NFL turning a blind eye to much worse things that I just don't see this being where they put their foot down. Especially considering how much money Watson in particular makes them. I think the NFL's stance on these things is horrible, but my opinion doesn't matter at all to them because I'm just one person and my beliefs are not aligned with the beliefs of the overwhelming majority of NFL fans. I'd venture to guess at least half or more of the target demographic of the NFL really doesn't think there's anything wrong with pressuring a masseuse for sex and paying them for it. The NFL knows this - its why you see them act the way they do with various players and their transgressions. Can't have anyone protesting the flag on national TV because that's really bad for business. But allegedly raping a college girl in a bathroom, beating your wife without video evidence, beating your kids, etc. Those things are the things their demographic acts like they're repulsed by in public but secretly they do it themselves or have friends and family who do, so they don't really have that much of a problem with it. The NFL has only ever acted when they had really strong financial motivation to do so. If there's a video that come out of Watson forcibly raping a masseuse, he's gone. But that's what it will take, and that doesn't seem like what happened.

For the record, I'm just telling you what I believe to be true. I wish it wasn't and that it would change.

I'd honestly be shocked if he doesn't miss at least eight games just for PR purposes on the NFL's part. They can just toss him on the exempt list and no one is going to complain much. Would Watson himself even complain? He was probably sitting out this season anyway if he wasn't traded.

From a PR standpoint, I'd think the NFL would probably be best served keeping him exempt until at least the criminal allegations are resolved. And it would be so awkward having him out there playing and the announcers going nuts when he made a great play with all this shit looming. He's the fucking quarterback. They say his name a bajillion times a game.

Zeke got 4 games for grabbing a tit, right? I’d say 8 games or just straight to the exempt list and that’s the season l.

I really dislike the idea of throwing guys to the wolves in a disputed case where there hasn't even been an opportunity to challenge the accusers. I don't see the need to rush the process of reaching a conclusion.

Do I think he did something wrong? Yeah, he probably did. But I don't think that should be the standard for public condemnation.

In the world of social media, you are guilty until proven innocent.

I agree with you in that he probably did something wrong, multiple times. But people need to let the investigation play out before wanting to him in the slammer for life.

Even if it is not in the slammer, the feeding frenzy can ruin someone's life. Because there are lawsuits, and that means evidence/testimony, there is no reason to rush. Just let it play out, and judge the guy then.

But you're right - in the social media era, people are expected to take a public stand on everything or risk condemnation themselves.

Does anyone have a single example of an individual being condemned for not taking a public stand already on this issue?

That's certainly not something I've observed.

Yeah, I have zero issue with anyone who wants to wait and see how it plays out. I suspect the NFL will place him on the exempt list in 2021 and essentially do the same.

Agreed.

I also have no problem with people saying this looks bad for him. It does. That stance is not the same as "he is guilty." I have no problem with someone thinking less of the man based off what this looks like, as long as they're willing to change their mind when presented with new evidence.

Without a doubt PR wise it’s a fucking nightmare for everyone involved, but at this point it’s nothing but allegations. Granted, a lot of allegations, but I feel like there’s probably little-to-no proof in any of these cases which is why most didn’t go to the police to file criminal charges.

The connection between Buzbee and the Texans owner makes things even more complicated, especially with Watson requesting a trade and the past comments made by the Texans owner about “inmates running the asylum.”

It’s a very murky situation all around. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next couple weeks as a judge ruled they’re going to have to the names of the accusers. I’d imagine at least some of these lawsuits get dropped because they don’t want their names made public

He has a right to face his accusers.

He has a right to face his accusers.
I never said he didn’t. He 100% has that right. It’ll just be interesting to see what happens once some of the women realize at some point their identity has to become public.

I’m not saying this means all the women will drop their lawsuits or that their allegations aren’t valid, just that we’ll start to get an idea if there is some legitimacy behind all of this or if there’s some other weird shit going on.
