The 2021 Cleveland Baseball Organization

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
His numbers aren't any good at 3B... Look at his metrics, I was better in high school than he has been so far (no offense, look at the numbers)
I assume you are talking his offensive numbers? Because his offense requires improvement to play at any position in the major leagues. But the separator is power potential, as demonstrated most recently at Lake Elsinore. And if that comes, he profiles as a third baseman quite easily, assuming he can smooth out the swing-and-miss that will affect his ceiling anywhere. You don't think a 6' 1" 190 pound 21 year old will fill out any more than that?

I was not talking offensive numbers but defensive numbers. He has stunk up the hot corner defensively and he cannot hit lefties yet.

I mean his worst case scenario is Chisenhall type with better plate discipline (hopefully less injuries) so I think he will succeed in the pros.

I’m pretty sure you guys are talking about two different players lol. Seems like WhoAzcue is talking about Arias and Sportscoach is talking about Nolan Jones.

Well I know I was talking about Jones, so I guess I did misread the post....

Arias I haven't seen play any other position so I wouldn't know about him yet

We’re just glossing over this.

This and the 40 time. Two of your greatest posts.

Still, don’t take defensive metrics in the minors too seriously coach. Don’t use range factor and even be skeptical of errors. Scoring is inconsistent in the minors, field maintenance (especially in the lower levels) is inconsistent, and the talent you are throwing to in the early portion of your career usually doesn’t end up in the bigs with you.

Jones is adequate at 3B. A step up from Lonnie when he was a 3B, but a majority in the org believe his final position will be elsewhere like Lonnie. He was a SS in HS, he has a real good feel in the IF. It’s his arm that’s gotten him in the most trouble as a pro.

That's fair enough, but is he better at 3B over what Arias, Miller etc are? I just feel like we have better talent defensively there at the end of the day. Also I feel like we will see him in 21 at some point, so him learning something other than 3B would be smart since JRam will play everyday unless hurt.

If he rakes in Columbus will we see Nolan at 1B this season in Cleveland? That's where I see him eventually, but I admit that I could be wrong.
