If he rakes in Columbus will we see Nolan at 1B this season in Cleveland? That's where I see him eventually, but I admit that I could be wrong.

So far he's been switching between 3B and 1B in the games that have the boxscores up via on twitter from the alt site camp.

I would expect him to get some reps here and there in the OF, but I'd be very surprised if we saw him outside of 1B/3B at any time this season.

So today,,,,,,
The Indians run into a triple play,
The infielder learning to play OF makes a very poor throw,
The OF playing 1B makes a game changing error.
To win, the Indians have to play damn near perfect.
Today wasn't that.

Bump Trade JRam thread in 3, 2, 1,,,,

If you sort by SRS, Indians are t-8th in MLB, and they have a combined 10 games against teams #1, 5 and 6 (Chw, Cin KC). I have no idea how predictive SRS for a full season and with teams playing a max of 16 games, probably still a bit noisy.

But to be 8-7 with a positive run differential against a tough schedule.....solid start.

I feel like if the Indians get out of April .500 plus healthy they should legitimately be in the running. They will find a bat whether it would be internal or external in due time.

Positive nugget for you all after a weird L.

Daniel Johnson is playing the majority of CF over Mercado (mostly in LF) and Zimmer (mostly in RF) at the alt-site.

Cantillo is going to be a helium prospect. Making MLB level hitters look bad.

Owen Miller continues to hit the shit out of the ball.
Is it hyperbolic to think that the Clevinger trade legitimately has the potential to be comparable to the Bartolo Colon trade for this franchise in terms of overall value in return? Considering how promising Gabriel Arias and Owen Miller appear to be and the reports coming out on Joey Cantillo, if Naylor and Quantrill are solid contributors on the big league level, last summer's trade could serve as a key piece of the new era of Cleveland baseball that we are about to embark upon over the next couple of seasons.

The Clevinger trade was like Christmas for me. I almost nailed the return, as Naylor, Quantrill, Miller and Cantillo were my main targets and I would have taken that tbh. We got Arias and Hedges on top. Keep dealing with Preller

As for Cantillo, he walked 6 batters in under 4 innings at the Alt site which is atypical for him. Bimbo, what is he working on that might have caused that?

That was a great trade IMO and hats off on predicting it. If Arias puts together another season like he did in 2019 and plays like he did in ST then he may actually be our best prospect.

One can't help but wonder if they would resign Hernandez knowing what they know now about Miller. Good Lawd! This kid can rake. Maybe they add another nice prospect at the deadline by dealing Cesar.

I think once they work their magic with Quantrill and get his innings built up that he will surpass Civale in the rotation. That's how highly I regard him.

Naylor should be a hitter, but outside of Hedges he's the one that enthralls me the least.

I'm excited to see the continued development of Cantillo. Now Bimbo is blowing air in my sails which has me even more excited about him.

It wasn't just Christmas. It was the best damn Christmas ever! What CA and MC have done while not tanking is nothing short of amazing.

You're not wrong to think that way. That was a haul for a guy that had burned his bridges here and was a ticking timebomb, health wise.

They essentially got an older version of Tyler Freeman, a former top 50 prospect swing starter/reliever with good stuff, a potential impact bat from a corner OF spot, and 2 prospects who have a chance to be high impact players. That is the trade that kicked the replenishment of the prospect coffers to the next level.

Still a number of question marks with it, but there is a ton of talent that was acquired for a guy currently missing the entire season.

Rust. A lot of the guys who didn't pitch in ST games or last year in the majors are rusty.

Plus, it's a huge jump for him to face what he is facing. For 1, umps call tighter and tighter zones as you move up levels. 2, the talent obviously improves. Cantillo's highest level reached is High A ball and he is facing AAA hitters and guys who have made it to the MLB level. Talk about a huge leap.

Stats I have for him so far is 9 IP, 10 K, 3 ER, 8 BB at the alternate site. For a guy who hadn't thrown a competitive pitch since 2019 and hasn't faced a batter above A ball, that's pretty damn impressive. The control will come as he gets back into things normally, because yes, that is out of the ordinary for him.

I seriously doubt Quantrill ever supersedes Civale in the pecking order. Cal's arsenal is more limited, although the stuff is greater. I don't see Cal's command ever approaching Aaron's, nor does he possess the same native ability to process what he has the way Aaron can. I'm hopeful for Quantrill, but he was handed a golden opportunity this spring and fumbled it away. That's a red flag for me.

Hernandez's defensive chops impressed the team and with the loss of Lindor, somebody with veteran status was needed in the middle of the infield. We're all excited by Owen Miller, but let's not go overboard. When Bieber ran into a rough patch yesterday, the first guy to the mound to help settle him down was Cesar, even before Roberto, and he left the mound well after Perez did. Hernandez has some gravitas on this team. But yeah, Owen Miller has excited me since the trade when a scout said he had more than a bit of Dustin Pedroia in him. But despite how poorly Hernandez's start has been, we need him around to be impactful for the team to be.

Yes, very much hyperbole. The Colon trade netted the Expos’ consensus #1, # 2, and #3 prospects.

I think he’s talking about the production we might eventually get from the trade, not the prospect rankings
Unless we net a Cy Young award winner or a 3-time All-Star outfielder from the trade, it’s still hyperbole.

Maybe, but we don’t know that yet. We won’t for a while.

He’s just asking if it’s totally insane to think we might get comparable value. I don’t think it’s insane to think that. It seems within the realm of possibility to me.
