2021 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I agree it sucks. I just don't think it is leaked for the purpose of driving down a players draft stock, so that the leaking team can then snatch them.

I know that's a common theory, but it has never made sense to me.

I'd say it's probably a PR thing. If you don't want to draft a guy because you flagged him, you want your fan base to know that so they can understand why you passed on him. There are teams out there whose fan bases desperately want them to draft a WR in the first round, and leaking something like this makes it reasonable to pass on a talent like Marshall.

At least, that's really the only logical reason I can think of to do it because, as you said, all the teams have access to the same information for the most part.

Won’t lie, I’m not sure he’s draftable? I can’t give an asset for someone that small.

He is 100% not draftable at that size.

Hilariously, he still has a higher BMI than Smith.

Was this common knowledge before?

For some reason, it comes as a surprise to me that OBJ is not that big. I didn't realize he was only 5'11".

Bateman looks like a monster next to him.

Bateman might be a monster.

A guy I'd move to 19 for if I were Andrew Berry, and his team feels the same way.

He's slick in his routes, he's big bodied and has tremendously strong hands. As a true outside receiver, you have the possibility of having he and Beckham on the outside and Jarvis in the slot with a play-action offense that can afford them a decent amount of time to get open.

Ryan McCrystal from Sharp Football has had the Browns getting Bateman at #26 pretty consistently. He more so focuses on the right details rather than insider info but is often one of the most accurate mock drafters.

Might mean nothing, but do I think it's an underrated need for the short and long term.

Main knock I have on Bateman is that his university pumped up his height and weight like it was a Tinder profile. They had the kid listed at like 6'3 and 215 and he came in at 6'0 180.

He did say that he played the bulk of his college career around 195, though, and I believe him. He said covid caused him to lose some weight that he hasn't put back on yet.

Bateman working out with OBJ probably has some thinking the Browns might take him, but I don't see him being available after the top 25 as I think outside of Chase he could be the most complete WR in the draft and that includes the likes of Smith and Waddle.
If he is available at 26 I wouldn't be unhappy if they picked him either but given the depth of WR and the current roster it would be highly unlikely they pulled the trigger.

Waddle will go over him for the same reason Ruggs went over Lamb and Jeudy, both markedly better prospects, last year. NFL teams are infatuated with top end speed. Smith will go over him too because he won the Heisman and the Eagles will talk themselves into him.

He also has incredibly long arms that allow him to play as if he were 6'3"

I have trouble believing Davis goes before JOK in a football draft. In a track and field draft? Sure.
