JEREMIAH OWUSU-KORAMOAH

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Maybe, but penciling in a second round pick week 1 is not a sure thing. It will be matchup and situational dependent. Maybe he can’t pick up the playbook quickly enough and they roll with Taki. Impossible to say today.
Taki and JOK play two totally different positions. That's what I am trying to say. A strong-side linebacker and a rover/Joker/non-traditional MIKE are completely different positions. They have totally different responsibilities and are not interchangeable.

J O K

But looks like he goes by Wu
Get ready for lots of this when he makes a play:

edit - beaten to the punch.

If we don't hear that blaring through the PA every time he makes a play, the Browns have failed me.

Get off your hands, Berry!

I get that. But I’m saying based on how he picks up the system, they may not start him week 1. Even if that means a different set. You are correct if he has a good camp, but if he is lost out there, they could play a more traditional D and taki is out there with Phillips. Impossible to know today. But we can’t just pencil in a second round rookie as a starter. Obviously they are different positions but as Taki proved in the playoff game, he can drop into coverage too.

Right, I hear you. It just seems highly unlikely that Woods plays two strong-side linebackers when he often didn’t play any last season. JOK may not start - though I do think that’s highly unlikely - but my guess is it is a 425 base with Smith/Phillips and Walker with JJ3, Depit, and Harrison behind.

JOK may be competing for minutes with Harrison. He is not competing for them with Takitaki.

MJ Stewart still hasn’t realized he crossed the LOS.

Think about this. We signed a good corner, Greedy is healthy, and now drafted one of the top 3 corners. You have about as good of a chance to make this roster at corner as MJ Stewart. We will probably never have to say his game when relating to a Browns game again.

I know you know this, but the improvement in our secondary from a personnel stand point is just insane.

This is why I didnt think we draft a high LB, especially a hybrid like JOK.

For sur he wont compete with Takitaki, i think there is a decent chance he doesnt make the squad now, even if we cut Wilson, Takitaki might be on the fence.

We might keep only 5 LB's, but maybe with JOK being a hybrid he keeps him and 5 other lb's. I wonder if we move JOK over the field or use him in a Nickel and use less dime packages than Woods was thinking.

JOK is an interesting piece and will be fun to see how they use him. I think we see him with Walker used over Tight ends allot.

As for starting, I think he starts in our base 4-3 defense even if it isnt our most used defense. That said its not about him starting its about how many snaps he gets and i think JOK gets the 2nd most snaps of all of our LB's.

I totally agree with pretty much all of this.

Ok I guess you are probably right. They will probably be in nickel as base D anyways

Week 1:
Takitaki will start at Sam.
Walker will start at MLB.
Phillips will start at WLB.

Last year, B.J. Goodson played as many defensive snaps as anyone on the team. Whatever position he played, the guys next to him varied substantially - Takitaki, Mack, Phillips, and Malcolm Smith -- and those guys clearly were not all the same player-type.

I think the Browns would certainly prefer that their nickel (which really is their base), would have a more traditional Mike-type like Anthony Walker, and then a rover like JOK at the other LB. But if they don't think JOK is ready, they'll go with someone else at that secind LB position even if he doesn't have the exact role JOK would have.
