Cavaliers Fantasy Trade Thread: 2020-21 regular season edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Thanks! That’s what I needed to hear. Especially the defensive part. I’m sorry but I hate just hearing people say a guy is no good without pointing out why “he’s no good”. The fact that he’s still in league means some people still feel he can play. But being a terrible shooter and defensive player is enough for me to say no as well

If you'd watch him play you'd know why people just say "he's no good." You don't need in depth analysis for guys that have been bounced around the League their entire careers. Hes got plenty of tape available.

Again it’s easy to just say he’s no good but again I point out until his last year here in Sac he was consistently putting up 13-14 points and grabbing 5 rebs a game. He may not be a superstar or the player worth being the #2 pick in the 2014 draft but those stats are better numbers than ANY of the small forwards on this team. A lot of players that have bounced around the league for years (James Jones, Mike Miller, Jae Crowder, Cory Joseph, Paul Milsap etc) but you can’t call them “just bad”!

He's been pretty bad his entire career minus maybe the start before he tore up his knees.

He was always a bad defender, but he became worthless after his injuries. He's been playing pretty much exclusively PF and some small ball C due to his lack of lateral quickness.

There's a reason no team has bothered to keep him longer than 39 games post-Milwaukee.

Stop looking at boxscores and watch games.

Cedi averages 10ppg and 4rpg this season. Taurean Prince averages 11/4 for his career. Two more shots and an extra rebound sounds exciting?

Again, there's a reason he's been on 5 teams in 7 seasons...

I watch games and take this to the bank Cedi, Prince and Windler will be bouncing around this league the rest of their careers

So why would you be intrigued by a similar player?
As bad as the Cavs roster is I would be intrigued by any player if they could “possibly” give us more than what we have! And you can talk about how bad he is on defense but who on the Cavs is a defensive gem?

Tauren Prince is all around better than Jabari. Im not sure Jabari is a 15th man at this point.

Jabari isn't bad per se, his nagging injuries are the real issue.

I'm warning y'all now: Stop before y'all realize what his name rhymes with.

What's really crazy about Jabari Parker is how horrible the pick looks in retrospect... a really really bad pick. And I mean Darko-bad.

Some of the names picked behind him just make you wince for that guy.

Kevin Love would "Love" to play in Portland,,,your mission is get him there.
Love/Sexton for CJ and Simons?
You draft a Jalen Green and bring CJ off the bench for the last year or 2 or his contract.
I really don't dislike Sexton but I can't stand Love anymore and I never liked the Garland/Sexton fit
so one of them has to go.

On paper I'm good with this, but CJ has 3 more years *after* this one at $30.8M up to $35.8M. As much as I like CJ as a NEOhio native, I'm not sure his contract is worth taking on for *this* team.

Knicks adding PG depth by signing Euroleague player Luka Vildoza. Vildoza is not a star, mind you...he wasn't even the best PG on a team with a modest 18-16 record this season. He averaged just 10 points, 2 boards, and 3.5 assists per game. But the upside of this is that it wasn't hard to tempt him across the pond with a team-friendly 13.6M/4 contract, the last 3 years all team options. And he's still probably better than the best G-League PG options.

The Cavs could do something similar to add PG depth this summer. Here are the 11th-30th ranked PGs in Euroleague last year by PER; you'll see Vildoza in there at 27, and also Campazzo who the Nuggets snagged earlier this year at 14.

Some nice options might be:

-Errick McCollum. He's a Canton native, so a Cavs contract would be something of a homecoming for him. At 33, he's among the older players on this list and more of a 1-year placeholder than a potential long-term rotation guy.

-Wade Baldwin. The former 17th pick is a core player for top German team Bayern Munich, so may not be easy to pry away. Good positional size at 6'4" 220, and at 25 years old has potential to be a nice long-term value contract.

-Thomas Walkup. Maybe my favorite option on this list, he put up huge numbers for low-major Stephen F. Austin before taking his talents overseas. He's a two-way star for top Lithuanian club Zalgiris, and he's greatly improved his 3-point shot in the last couple seasons. Also may be difficult to pry away.

-Daniel Hackett. He's a key roleplayer for Euroleague championship favorite CSKA Moscow. He's a versatile guard at 6'5" 215, and he shot a stellar 50% from 3 across Euroleague and Russian league play this season. At 33 he's putting the finishing touches on his career, and could be interested in an NBA cameo.

-Corey Walden. A hard-nosed defender who was OVC DPOY a few years ago, he's slowly worked his way up the ranks in Europe to top Serbian club Crvena Zvezda. At 28 he's right in the middle of his prime and may be ready for a return to the states.
