2021 NBA PLAYOFFS MEGA THREAD

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I hate how Ty Lue gets dragged and has this bad rep as a horrible coach.

But it's like that with any of LeBron's former teammates and coaches. People always act like they need to prove themselves outside of playing with him as if LeBron James has spent his entire career playing with bum ass players and coaches.

The majority of us still love the dude but we don't have to pretend that every former teammate or coach he's ever had is trash.

Deserves criticism for Longabardi

Spo & Vogel are the only + coaches he has had. Lue was trash. His claim to fame was calling plays out of timeouts. He lost control of the locker room, he never got the best out of the Big 3, he just let our guys ISO to victory instead of running an offense, he has a love affair with a shitty defensive coordinator & he gets love from his players....despite his coaching career being a train wreck vs expectations.

If he wanted to prove himself as a good coach, 2018 was it. But he couldnt even get that team to mediocrity.

I don't think Ty is as bad as many think but not nearly as good as what NBA front offices seem to think. Players love him because he was a player himself and gives them a lot of rope to do their own thing, especially on offense.

How many really exceptional coaches are there in the NBA? Maybe 5 or 6? Most NBA coaches' effect on a team's win/loss record seems to be negligible.

For the most part, it comes down to talent and chemistry with the close games decided by who hits shots in the clutch.

Two years ago MIL was up 2-0 on TOR and Giannis was looking like the best player in that series. TOR won 4 straight and Kawhi took over. Kawhi still hasn't had a bad game this series.

Ty Lue will make adjustments. The Clippers role players will play better. I don't think the Mavs roll players will be hott the whole series.

LAC haven't even started attacking KP on defense yet and breaking down that Dallas D. Once they start picking on KP the tables will turn.

(1) Dump the passive switching defense and have Kawhi and PG make an effort to fight over screens.

(2) Pray the Mavs go cold or actually implement a defense that gives tougher looks (47% in game 1 and 53% in game 2 is really hard to beat)

(3) Agree on attacking KP. Have Kawhi + PG attack Porzingis (Dude looks like a fawn on skates) and don't settle for dumb jumpers when he's guarding them.

(4) Rotation changes needed. Way less Marcus Morris minutes (we mentioned Kennard getting 64 million but Morris is getting paid the same to stink it up). Maybe start Batum because Marcus fouls too much, ISO's like he's a star player, doesn't pass or help with rebounding either. Ibaka has played well enough to get more minutes compared to Zubac but not sure what's happening behind the scenes.

They were going back to Toronto, Los.

Dallas is headed home to a full house. LAC plays in a mostly empty arena still.

It's done.

Honestly the game plan needs to be the plan used against LeBron.

Never leave your man, make Luka score 50.

If it's an open Luka layup or a kickoff 3, give him the layup. Over and over again if need be.

I don't think homecourt is as big of an advantage this year as other years.

They did this in game two. Only difference is the Mavs role players hit their shots. Now they have to stay hot the whole series. It's unlikely that Kawhi has a bad game this series. Clippers role players need to step up.

If this was the other way around and Kawhi and Paul George were stinking it up and the role players were playing well then they'd be in trouble.

I'd say the fact that Kawhi just played a truly greeat game, at home, and lost, is actually the nail in the coffin.

This has all the feels of the 08-09 series against the Magic. LeBron was just insane every single night and you look up at the Magic are winning the game.

Yep you can wear him out if you make him beat you by himself. Tough to make that many shots over a series. Should be called the van Gundy defense.

Btw this whole "must win the series or they're all failures" type of stuff only happens because of the way NBA players behave these days.

If they weren't bolting teams every time anything went wrong, then this wouldn't all feel so life or death.

There's a good chance if they ran this series back next year that Tim Hardaway Jr. doesn't hit every shot he throws up and the Clippers win. Same players and all.

That used to be happen a lot in the olden days. Teams would play again the following year, same basic core in tact, and there would be a different result.

But that's not how it works anymore. You can't just lose and try again. You have to either completely blow up the roster and/or the star players demand a trade.

But allot of them are trash. What coach has done anything except Spolstra?

Love? Trash now. Kyrie? Had to join 2 top players 10 in Harden and Durant, and was trash in Boston.

What has AD done without Lebron? Wade won one before Lebron, but Miami collapsed for a bit after he left

Mike Brown was trash in LA.

I mean Lebron is the cheat code, always has been, its not the players or coaches fault Lebron is the GOAT, he just is and playing with him alone makes you a contender.

Yeah and gave up on him for no reason. Out of the long list of horrible roster decisions the Cavs have made over the last 10 years, this is still the one that pissed me off the most. This is the one that makes me question why I root for this team.
was that before or after LeGM came back? Harris sucked back then

How was Kyrie trash in Boston? And he joined the Nets before Durant or Harden so that don’t make sense either

Been saying it and still believe it-- Kawhi is not the same dude... Numbers might be there but something is off..

The take over ability isn't there at all. I know he's always been almost robotic/methodical but something is not right.

I don't think it's Pandemic P this year...Think it's Kawhi..

Nah. He's just running into a better player.

Not a knock on him. He's still great. Luka is better.
