2021 NBA PLAYOFFS MEGA THREAD

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't doubt Middleton would put good numbers on basically any team. He is just suited to be more of a #3 option, similar to Love was when Lebron and Kyrie were here. If he gets hot, you are probably going to win the game but I don't think he can turn on that switch and help carry a team that is needed from a #2 player. Brodgen and Bledsoe were those types of players for the Bucks.

Bledsoe was not.

We'll see if Bud is willing to just completely remove starters from the rotation.

Tucker can't play another minute. Forbes needs way more minutes and Connaughton needs to start hitting 20 minutes.

Every year some team is trotting out P.J Tucker in the playoffs to be their 6’5” starting PF….They never win…

This man is in his mid 30’s and can’t shoot anymore, create or drive, rebound or pass and is a German League champion….

I’m confused as to why he is still in the league ? And why teams choose to start him ?

I’ve always thought Bud was not a playoff coach. You could just tell he gets rattled and the players feel that.

But it’s weird to me the Milwaukee would hire him and then not create a roster that was basically Giannis + a facsimile of the 2014-2015 Atlanta Hawks.

As others have said, they screwed up by choosing Bledsoe over Brogdon and then they really botched that Bogdanovic situation this summer. Both would be perfect with Giannis

Looks like rest of league is going to have rebuild or just wait out the Nets like the rest of the East did when Lebron was here. We need to go into rebuild 2.0 mode.

Nothing in recent NBA history makes me think this anymore.

The Warriors with Durant were the most stacked team of all time and they kept it together for a whopping 3 seasons.

Such is the way the NBA works now.

Bledsoe was not.

He was more so than Middleton and it goes back my earlier point of how it was a mistake to pick Bledsoe over Brodgen. The trio of Brodgen, Middleton, and Giannis needed to grow together. Maybe they add Jrue Holiday regardless but they had the size advantage with Brodgen.

I'll be honest I loved Brogdon but he's went to Indiana and been a disappointment.

Not sure he would be this legit number 2 scorer deep in the playoffs that people think he would be.

Giannis can't get dominated by Durant like this. He has to play every single night like a true superstar and if he can't, then the real problem is right there.

Yeah, your super team window is usually 3-4yrs. Golden State extended theirs by getting KD via non-cap smoothing. Spurs, of course, are the outlier.

Honest to god.

He's living off of like a little stretch of ball the year the Rockets should have beaten the Warriors and coaches still think he's starting material.

Don't get it. He's awful.

A moody Kyrie or Harden, or Durant's achilles could stop the nets at any moment.

I don't think the Cavs need to be in a rush to add vet talent to this team that isn't development oriented. We need a #1 scorer and if we don't get that in this draft, we need to get it in the 2022 draft. A mid round pick won't up the talent level of this team to compete at a truly high level.

I love watching coaches who are going purely off analytics get their asses kicked in the playoffs when it's all about matchups and feel.

Bud now has a history of having his teams sticking to this "3pt or layup" strategy while their opposition plays matchups and feel and takes advantage of what defenses give them (also known to NBA historians as mid-range game)

As soon as Middleton started taking what Brooklyn was giving (midrange) he got his footing and started hitting from range again. As I type this, Giannis just came down and shot a 3 with 18 seconds on shot clock.

Great coaching Bud

I've definitely started rethinking some things watching the playoffs this year.

For instance, one reason I think Trae Young is succeeding so early where a guy like Harden largely failed for a lot of post-seasons is that he's willing to shoot a floater.

And while this is somewhat unfair to D'Antoni because he did get unlucky a couple of times with PHX and Houston to not make the Finals...I think this killed his teams sometimes. Layups or 3 pointers and nothing else.

So while I think all teams should be tailoring their rosters to find as many open 3s as possible....in order to go really, really deep in the playoffs you need a guy or two who can legitimately score from more spots than that.

That guy doesn't need to be your best player, but you need him on the team nonetheless.

If Middleton is not a #2 then Colin Sexton is definitely not a #2.
