NFL Off-Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Julio to the Titans

AFC is a hell of a conference at this point, this season is going to be so fun.
The AFC is basically the Western Conference of the NFL at this point. So many legitimate contenders in this conference that 10 wins (and maybe even 11, now that the schedule has 17 games) is not enough to guarantee that you’ll at least get a wildcard spot.

@Los216 chiming in saying the Cleveland team should have acquired the big name--who would've guessed!? The Browns, with OBJ and Landry, had no reason to be in on Julio Jones.

Someone making a hot take that a receiver isn't good because of TD totals is probably even worse though. Touchdowns are unpredictable, and Julio is one of the best receivers in the game, a first-ballot hall-of-famer, and one of the best receivers of this era.

Tennessee made a great move here--I said last year that they were no longer a contender and their window had already closed. Upgrading from Corey Davis to Julio is a huge move for them--and not a bad one given their position. I still don't think a carriage being pulled by Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill gets anywhere, but they're going to be a harder out than they would have been without Julio. This also allows them to keep AJ Brown away from the X position, which should be really good news for that offense.

Agreed. It barely moved the needle in Vegas.

Julio Jones has consistently underperformed in touchdowns, its not like its cyclical or something. For some reason, despite his obvious talent, he has been unable to make himself a major threat in the red zone. Some of his ex teammates say he just didn't work that hard on that part of the game. Five years ago, that would be the only blemish on his game. Now, its joined by his age and declining health and skills. He'll make the Titans a bit better this year, but losing a second round pick will cost them down the line. I think the trade slightly improves the Browns chances over the next few years as Tennessee with Tannehill and their defense just dont have enough to be at the top of the AFC. I sort of feel they've overachieved as a team the last few years and this is a desperate attempt to win before their window closes.

This reads like a lazy fantasy football take.

I'm also calling complete bullshit on "he just didn't work that hard on that part of the game."

I agree that Tennessee isn't really a concern (called it a while ago that 2019 playoffs were their peak).

Touchdowns are pretty much a completely random stat, which is why it's always smart in fantasy to draft guys who underperformed in them the previous year. Alvin Kamara was a screaming example of this after the 2019 season and, as expected, he bounced back.

^ Happens to me in fantasy drafts every year. :(

So much fun to not have to root for these types of teams anymore. Hope I'll never have to again.
Looks like I nailed that Mond-Houston fit in our mock:

109. Houston Texans Kellen Mond, QB, Texas A&M
The Texans truly are the worst franchise in football right now. I feel bad for their fans.

My source was NFL Network radio. They interviewed another Falcon receiver whose name escapes me (McSomething) and he said exactly that. Show hosts concurred and added anecdotes. Say what you will about numbers, over a ten year career they mean something. Its not as if he suffered from inadequate QB play or a woeful offense either. Not saying he wasn't a beast in his prime, but he wasn't a complete package. You may dislike the presentation but the facts remain.

Cleveland Cavaliers: Hold my beer.

The Cavs are four years removed from a Finals appearance and five from a literal championship, the first in team history. They get a little bit of leeway even if they are terribly managed.
