2021 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Among the various discussions of late bloomers/ is someone a prospect or not, a name & stat line has caught my attention: Justin Garza.

It appears he has put a few things together and has finished 3 games (1 save already) for the Clippers this season. He might be a multi inning arm that could help the Tribe bullpen this year as arms are shuttled back forth with CBus. With his experience starting in the minors, he might also be an opener option.

If my season count is correct, Garza is a minor league free agent after this year.

One last item: Yes he was part of the famous spring training picture from a few years ago of a group of minor league guys watching a Corey Kluber sim game on the backfield..

Is that not what you were doing?

"It's pretty clear that someone who "doesn't give a fuck" about anything someone else knows isn't someone you can have a viable discussion with. Best to just move along and let his posts roll by like tumbleweeds in the West."
If you think someone admitting "I'm a murderer" and you saying "hey, this guy's a murderer--might want to be cautious of him" is the same thing as calling someone a murderer, then sure. :biggrinthumb:

That's not the point I was making (or trying to make). You tell me such and such metric says he is (or could) eventually do this. Such as the discussion on Hernandez. People say his advanced metrics say he could do this or he is trending in a direction that makes me feel good. I'm not dismissing that but my point is he's hitting .215 so that's great your metrics lead you to believe that things will get better but how is that helping us now? What if those metrics never play out and he keeps hitting .215. What good are your metrics then? That's my point.
I guess I don’t dwell on the past. I simply use the information from it to help me moving forward.

If Cesar maintains his subpar stat line throughout the year while having his current batted ball profile, I’ll simply shrug and accept that his production was subpar for the year. Outliers happen. Same as we have all readily admitted that his overall production so far this year is subpar.

I’d still bet on him having a bounce back year in 2022 (assuming he maintains that batted ball profile).

Man, Matt Esparza. Talk about a blast from the past.

He played travel ball with my brother back in the day before moving to California. Saw he retired a few seasons ago. Shame after he flew threw the first couple levels of the minors pretty quickly.

@Lee Hey Lee - weren't you asking about this guy (Garza) earlier this year?

at the current moment, in my mind, Garza is in the same list as Brooks and Call, but if he continues results then you cannot deny him the chance to earn big league time eventually

I do appreciate the personal digs--it's cute when that's all you have, but I'm in no way the smartest guy in this room. b00bie, @BimboColesHair, @Derek and others know more about baseball than I ever will and kept this section afloat and incredibly valuable with high-quality content for a long time when it was a barren wasteland in here. Add in bonafide studs like @jup and @MadThinker88 and I'm lucky if I'm sitting at the kids table.

When you concede the topic at hand to just talk shit about the person, it's pretty clear the discussion is over, eh?

I know you didnt mean to and this wasnt the point of your post, but you left allot of people out on your list. Fans like me with just a bit above average knowledge of baseball are really luck to what this board has become.

How the fuck do you remember that. I barely remember that.

You probably kicked out some important fact like your wife's birthday keeping that random shit in your brain :chuckle:

I'm sure I did. I know I confuse posters, or just kind of merge multiple into one... and often give one credit for something the other said in the past.
I specifically left you out though @Lee because fuck you in particular :toast:

Should probably give Corey a shoutout....

For sure fuck me in particular. Lord knows no one else is doing it.

On a side note, I love there are certain ones of us that can tell each other to fuck off and we all know its a joke. Makes it much easier to communicate when we only insult people jokingly. I did famously go off on some one a couple of months ago, but it was needed and i got way, way to many likes for doing it, lol. (it was in a basketball thread)

Wait, you went off on someone in a basketball thread?

When did this happen? Who was it? And how do I read it?

If it was deleted, I hope someone saved it... because his response was one of the most ironically funny things I've ever read.

;)

It was deleted, the mod didnt really say much to me except consider this your warning. No one saved it. It was really bad, but well deserved. They were ruining the thread with their ridiculous hot takes. They kept pushing buttons, I think on purpose. The funny thing is i usually find that shit hilarious, like Heath was one of my all time favorite posters, he was so unintentionally funny, but in this case it was so, so, so bad.

The more trivial the more it sticks... The more important.... well.

I remember it because it was an interesting query. Also, it appears he has more of a shot (still super remote) than I originally thought.

Dont confuse my queries for anything interesting. I just look at MiLB stats and ask you guys who actually follow it about the player so I have an idea.

But because I am old and forgetful. I re-ask about the players later. :chuckle:

I remembered as well, but someone aka @Criznit beat me too it lol Garza isn't a name we hear often, so I had to look him up to double check where he was at... so I could respond with the right answer lol
